Attachment page is not inheriting theme styles

I just received a report from Google Search Console on a few URLs that were 404. When I clicked on this link:

https://clearlybalanceddays.com/?attachment_id=8820

I found that the attachment page does exist, however, the theme styles are not being applied to it.

I’m not sure whether the former developer understood this was happening, but we want to make sure that when someone clicks on an attachment page link, they see the same styles at the https://clearlybalancedays.com site.

How do attachment pages inherit the full theme style?

Hello Tina,

Thanks for writing in! The attachment page is using the global layout settings. You have set to have a “Sidebar Left, Content Right” in X > Theme Options > Layout and Design > Content Layout. This is a global layout settings. Any normal pages, posts, archive pages and others will be using this layout. In your attachment page, it is displaying exactly the same Sidebar Left, Content Right layout except for your attachment title which is obviously a very long one which is why it is outside of bounds. The sidebar is empty because there were no widgets added in your Main Sidebar widget area. If you wish to add some widgets to it, please go to Appearance > Widgets.

Okay, I understand that, but look at the website home page style of the site itself (colors, logo) and look at the Attachment page style and they do not match. The logo is missing. The background colors are gone. How do you resolve that?

Hello Tina,

Your header and footer is different because you did not assign any global header and footer. Please go to Pro > Headers and in Pro > Footers. Make sure that custom header and footer of your homepage is also your global header and footer. Otherwise, the attachment page and any other pages will just display the default Pro header and footer which is what is happening now.

So, I should just click the “Make Global” button in the Header section after selecting the available header and that will make it global?

Yes, click the “Make Global” so that your custom header will be displayed in all pages of your site.
