As per inserting a widget area

I’d like to try to use a 3rd party plugin. So I added a ‘widgetized area’ to my header. However when I go to the WP area and drop the pluging into every header area shown it doesn’t show up when I go to edit the header in Pro. So I’m asking where exactly is the widgetized area to be accessed outsid of the pro editor? Is one restricted to only what’s offered by Themeco? It’s not easy to find any kind of tutorial on this matter.

Hey James,

Thank you for reaching out. It won’t work with Pro headers because the header builder create it’s own layout. If your plugin provides a shortcode then you can paste the shortcode in the Text element to show your widgetized area in Pro headers.

Hope this helps!

Thanks but I don’t fully understand what you’ve told me. How do I place short code in a text area and how does that ‘show’ a widgitized area … where?

Hi James,

Sorry, but we are not entirely certain of what you’re trying to do, please clarify, please clarify what 3rd party plugin you’re trying to use.

Widgetized area, if you’re referring to the Widget Area element, this element only output a widget, widgets content can be managed under Appearance > Widget.

Widget Area element has no control over the styling of the widget. And the builder does not show a preview of the 3rd party widget.

Thanks,

Thanks Friech, I was hoping I could make use of a purchased plugin called ‘Bellows Accordion Menu’. It makes the design process simple and quick. Rather than struggle through so many variables in the collapsed menu component provided in the Pro app.

As I understand it, placing a 'widget component in a container would make a corresponding widget area in the backend
(Appearance>widget) and into this I could place my 3rd party menu plugin.

Hi James,

Thank you for the clarification, yes you got that right, but the fact still remains that the 3rd party plugin can not be styled inside the builder and the builder won’t show a preview for it (it may but with an issue), you need to configure that “Bellows Accordion Menu” in its own dashboard.

You can actually escape the Widget Area thing, as I see that plugin provides a shortcode (see Appearance > Bellows Menu > Main Configuration), shortcode can be pasted on a Content Area element.

The accordion is not designed as a menu, I suggest that you use the Navigation Layered element instead as menu. Whichever method you use you’re going to configure it anyway so why not use the native element of the Theme, there is also an Accordion element if you really want an accordion on the header.

I understand that there are lots of configuration on the elements and it can be overwhelming. You can turn off some of those configurations by navigating to PRO > Settings > User Preferences and set the Advance Mode to Always Off

Cheers!

Hi,

I’ve a secondary question; That is I can’t figure out how to place an item (an inline search) so that it remains on the halfway mark of the rightside header container. Is there a way to combine regular block with flex box tech?

Hello James,

In your container, please set the Flex Layout Horizontal to “End”. And then in your Search Inline setting, set a maximum width which is half of the container width.

Hope this helps.

Well … (omg). I’ve now run into another mystery. I can no longer find the flexbox settings.
