Are SSL certificates compatible with PRO

WordPress: v4.9.2
Pro: v1.2.7

As per my Web Hosting provider Godaddy, I should benefit from an SSL certificate as Google ranks hires secure websites (HTTPS) . But it may be incompatible with some premium or advance themes.
Please advise if there are any known issues related to SSL certificates and Pro? So that way I can coordinate.

Additionally, the website is to promote my products and services and I don’t sell these products and services online and don’t have a contact form, but I will soon have a contact form, based on these do you think I should consider an SSL certificate?

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! Though SSL certificates are fully compatible with X theme & Pro, if you add this feature for an existing site, you may need to re-attach your media files such as images to your pages to fully compatible with SSL setup.

Thanks!

Thanks,

So, do I need to re-attach (re-insert) my Media to the web page, or do I need to re-import (re-upload) all my media to WordPress media library.

Godaddy support recommended a plugin “Really Simple SSL”, now, will you suggest the same, or a similar plugin?

Hi there,

It is not recommended to use the plugins you have mentioned. Instead, you need to change the base URLs of your WordPress installation to HTTPS from Settings > General and use the Search and Replace plugin to search for any occurances of your domain with HTTP and change them to your domain with HTTPS.

That way you even do not need to re-attach your media files and it will be ok.

It is hihgly important that you backup your website completely before performing those tasks.

Thank you.

Thanks,

Should I turn all my plugin OFF before Searching and Replacing?

By the way:

  • On the area that you indicated “Settings > General” the domain was already https://MySite.com
    and it had a note:
“Note: Your domain cannot be changed here. Change domain” with a link to godaddy.

  • That godaddy link is probably there because, I upgraded to a new hosting server “Special for WP” called the “Manage WordPress Ultimate”
I did this, to improve plugin performance, but I don’t see a difference. So I may end up getting your AWS hosting.

Additionally:

  • I check the images in Slider Revolution, and the images URLs also updated automatically to https://
  • Lastly, I also check the Media Library, and images url also updated automatically to https://

Hi there,

When you updated your site’s URL to https, there might still some links that were not updated correctly even if the base and home URL in wordpress settings were updated. Using some plugins that forces your site to redirect to https would work but in some instances, it doesn’t.

It would be recommended to make sure that all the links on your site is updated to https in the database. That way, you would not be able to worry about some links/image paths still referencing the http site.

You can still have you plugins enable while you are doing the Search and Replace. Just make sure to keep a backup of your site before doing any changes just in case.

Hope this helps.

The problem continued, but this is how to fix it.

My hosting support recommended a site to generate a report of the NON HTTPS:// items:
https://www.whynopadlock.com/

All the items listed in this report were a couple of custom social images, and the two versions of the company logo placed in the PRO Footer and PRO Header.

All of these images had the temporary domain generated in the migration process from Linux Deluxe Web Hosting server to the New Manage WordPress Ultimate server.

  • So I Search & Replace the temporary domain for the correct and final https:// Domain.

  • PRO Footer and PRO Header, I try removing and re-MAKE GLOBAL, and this did not fix the problem.

  • I try to re-attach (re-insert) images and this did work, but only after Flushing all caches.

Apparently the site is now fully secure.

Glad you were able to figure it out and thanks for sharing it with other members.

Cheers!
