Archive Layout - Author layout not applying

Hi everyone,

this is the third time I have made an author page with your theme, (each time there has been some issues, however I have always managed to work through it and get it working).

However this time I am not so lucky. I have defined an author page with its conditions “Any Author - Is being viewed”.

However it is not overwriting the existing default template

I tried troubleshooting the issue. But as far as I can tell there isn’t anything wrong it seems.

Hello @IPA_tech,

Thanks for writing in! I am seeing an Author layout and All Archives layout with the same priority. We recommend that you put -1 priority to the Author layout.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Hi Ruenel,

Thank you for your help, and apologies but I did so and the overwrite is still not working sorry. From what I am seeing it looks like it may be the Stacks default “author page” style that is taking over the design and layout.

I have since defined the “-1” priority and that still isnt working.

Hi @IPA_tech,

I have checked the Layout and found the problem you described here. It seems something is overriding the layout assignment and condition. There might be some different reasons behind your reason, I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

  1. Theme Related Issue
  2. Plugin Conflict
  3. Theme Update related issue
  4. Child Theme Related issue
  5. CSS/JS Customization
  6. Disabling Cache
  7. Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above help, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.

Hi Tristup,

No problem if you are able to see you should be able to check my first post with the secure note as well with the login details.

I think I worked it out, as I think its publishpress authors plugin. And because I need multiple authors I have since created a custom field in ACF to at least (on the front facing side) multiple authors to the post.

However I don’t know how to attribute these as the authors of the post themselves. I might just use the main author as the primary “writer” and then use the Multiple author field from ACF to do the visual front end.

Also I am seeing another slight issue where if an author doesn’t have any attributed posts, they will not show their information. Is there a way around this to show their info regardless? (See my secure note for the page in question)

Hey @IPA_tech,

Yes, you need to use ACF. Otherwise, this would require custom development or the use of 3rd party plugins. If you need guidance on these, please consider subscribing to our One premium support.

Regretfully, no. This would require custom programming as well but for this one, it can only be done by our Elite team.

Thanks.
