Anchor links covered by menu bar

I added anchor buttons on the top of my page and when I click on it, it moved down past the headline at the top on the section where I added my ID.

I placed the JS Code in the header section and added the class to each bar to see if it worked and it didnt work for me. Also in my case it the section already goes behind the header, the reference you sent seems it would increase the section further up behind. I seem to have the opposite issue.
