Anchor link not working on mobile

I have a button in a Convert Plus modal that links to an anchor (custom ID on section). Clicking the button works on desktop and iPad but not in mobile. It replaces the URL correctly but doesn’t scroll to the relevant section on the page.

Hi @neilandroid,

Thanks for reaching out!

I just check your website on an actual mobile devices and the anchor link is just working fine on my end! Maybe it is just a cache on your end, I suggest that you clear the cache on your mobile.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply Marc. I’d already emptied the cache but it’s not working (iPhone 12 Pro Max). It’s also not working on my iPad when I divide the browser screen (making it device size) but does work on half or full size screens. Responsive design mode in Safari on desktop shows the same problem on mobile sized screens. Edit: Responsive design mode in Firefox throws up the same problem for iPhones, but not when emulating Samsung / Android

Hello @neilandroid,

You are using the “Form Designer” to display a button. This is not the correct way of adding a link that links to an anchor. The button is for a form and not for a simple link. The button uses # for the “href” and redirects to the link once the form has been submitted.

To properly create a button in a modal popup, please check out this documentation instead:

Best Regards.

I’ve now hidden the form and replaced the button with the method above. Again, it works on desktop but not on mobile. It is replacing the URL correctly but not scrolling to the correct page anchor.

Hi @neilandroid,

I have checked your website on my Android mobile phone and also on other devices like iPhone and IPad using Browser Device Tool and found it is working properly. Can you please check once by clearing your mobile browser cache? If that does not resolve this issue, please mention the device, browser name, and version, and also the operating system you are using, which helps us to replicate the issue at our end.

Thanks

I emptied the cache on my iPhone and the first time I clicked the link it worked ok. If I reload the site and try again it doesn’t. The same thing happens when previewing the site in mobile (iPhone) using Responsive Design Mode on my desktop browser.

Hi @neilandroid,

I have checked it again through the Browser Device tool and Online Device tools but unable to replicate the issue you described here. I would suggest you consult with a local developer who can inspect and investigate the issue specifically at your end.

Thanks

I’ve eventually got it to work. Under the background tab of the modal popup designer, I changed the overlay type from ‘simple color’ to ‘image’ (with no image selected) and it’s now behaving itself.

Hello @neilandroid,
