An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 61 of the file

Everytime I install Cornerstone, it shuts my site down and I get the following error:

This plugin failed to load properly and is paused during recovery mode.

An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 61 of the file /home3/ikescates/public_html/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/includes/classes/common/class-integration-manager.php . I login through recovery mode, disable Cornerstone and the site works fine, but I NEED Cornerstone in order for my site to work. My domain provider updated me to the most recent version of PHP, so I’m good there.

Not sure what else is causing this error. HELP!

Hi Monyca,

It could be that Cornerstone was not installed correctly. Please login through FTP then go to wp-content/plugins then delete the cornerstone directory that is in there.

Then log back in to the admin area and reinstall Cornerstone again.

Let us know how it goes.

I followed your instructions and it didn’t help. I have installed this several times, a couple different ways, to no avail. After installing the theme, there is a line right under the plugin header that says something like, “you’re almost done. press here to install and activate cornerstone”. I’ve done it that way. I’ve actually uploaded the plugin separately, from the framework folder. Both enable the site for a few minutes, but once I start clicking around in the menu, I get an error that says, “There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions”. That’s when I have to go into my email for a recovery mode link, in order to disable the plugin. I’ve even deleted and re-installed the whole theme. Same outcome. I’m wondering if it’s my domain provider, HostGator…

Hi Monyca,

In that case, please provide us login credentials (wp-admin and FTP) in a secure note so we can take a closer look.

Thanks,

Hello Monyca,

Thanks for providing the information. I have logged in and have deleted your X theme and Cornerstone plugin. It seems that some files were corrupted. I have deleted the X theme and re installed a fresh copy. I even uploaded a child theme and it is now active. Cornerstone was installed and activated as soon as the X theme were activated.

Please check your site now.

Hi @ruenel. Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, that did not help. I am assuming that you tried to fix my site around 8:30AM CST or before, because I got an email that there was an error with my site again and i had to log in via recovery mode. As suspected, it was the Cornerstone plugin again. I am not sure what is going on, but it is very frustrating. Is there a way to be refunded for this theme or credited, due to all the trouble I am having? I am behind in getting a website completed due to not being able to even get the full theme installed and working properly. Please advise.

Hi Moncya,

There seems to be a problem or conflict with your hosting service provider as I tested the Cornerstone on my local environment and also my server and it worked with no problem.

Unfortunately, the FTP connection that you provided shows an empty directory and I do not have access to the WordPress files would you please kindly check?

Upon checking the admin section of your website I found out that there are a few mu-plugins installed. The mu-plugins are called Must Use Plugins and are added inside the mu-plugins folder on the WordPress installation.

This will force them to use those plugins without having a chance to disable them via Wordpress Admin. I suggest that you contact your hosting service provider and ask them to disable those plugins temporarily, then test the website, this way we will understand if there is a conflict problem with those plugins or not.

Thank you.
