You can see that I have a search item in my sidebar https://thelanguagesherpa.com

Would you please be able to tell me what code I need in order to alter the colour of the border outline?

Thanks for asking.

You can add following CSS under Pro > Theme Options > CSS to change search box border color:

.search-query:focus {
    border-color: #ddd !important;
}

.search-query {
    border-color: #000 !important;
}
