After an update of x theme from a very early version to the latest version, all searches now display a white screen. How can I get the search page template in the right place for x theme to find it?
Problem solved, just added a search.php template in the child theme. However, if there is a better way to add the template the x theme way, that would be good to know and to implement.

Glad you sorted things out, but If I’m not mistaken the issue is caused by your custom search.php file and not because of the update right? If so, then yes the best place for your customizations is the child theme.
