After updating X Theme & Cornerstone all the icons have changed! Can they be changed back please!

Hi, I’ve been working on a site for the past few months and my client has already approved the design and layout, which means they liked the style of the icons used. I’ve just updated to the latest version of X Theme and Cornerstone and all the icons have changed! Can they be changed back please!

I’ve done a before and after of a few of the icons, these include the social media icons, as I haven’t changed the size etc and the chevron in the After pic looks totally different! Will these be corrected in a further update? This has put me off doing any further updates to all of my other sites, as I haven’t got the time to take screen grabs of every part of every page and then compare them afterwards to see if anything has changed!

I’ll put the URL in a secure note as it’s on a temp link.

Thanks!

Hi @core365

These icons were changed in Font Awesome 5, they were replaced with the solid thick version as the lighter one is now under “Pro” license, however, adding this CSS snippet to (Theme Options > CSS) may help in changing “some” of these icons to the old state but not all of them:

[data-x-icon-o], [data-x-icon-s], [data-x-icon-b], [data-x-icon], [class*="x-icon-"] {
    font-weight: 200;
}

Unfortunately, this is all what we can do at this stage.

Thanks.

Hi, many thanks for that, it’s worked great!

When you say the lighter one is only available in the Pro license, is that X Theme Pro you’re referring to?

Cheers

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!

We have two different theme one is X and another is Pro. The option is available in pro only.

Thanks

Can you explain to me how that is fair for all people who have purchased X, that you’ve now changed how all the icons appear and the ones that we’ve been using for the past couple of years are only available in the Pro version?

I literally dread each time you have an update, as there’s always something that causes an issue and I don’t know if you realise, but it’s time and hassle every time there’s an update, as you then have to go through each website you have that uses X Theme and check to see if anything has changed and then when it has, you have to try and figure out a way of fixing it and if you can’t do it yourself, then it’s a matter of waiting to hear back from yourselves. It shouldn’t be this hard, especially if it’s ‘improvements’ you’re supposed to be making when doing these updates. I hope you can understand my frustration.

Cheers

Hi @core365

Sorry for the confusion that I might caused for you, when I said:

they were replaced with the solid thick version as the lighter one is now under “Pro” license

I meant “Font Awesome 5 Pro”, not our Pro theme, they moved the light version of their icons to Pro version of the font which you can find here:

https://fontawesome.com/pro

Currently, we integrate the Font Awesome Free version “only” with our themes (both X and Pro), I’m not sure if this will be changed in the future or not, but what I’m sue about now is that there is no option to integrate the Font Awesome Pro version in any of our themes, doing that will require further theme development which is beyond our support scope.

Please accept my apologize and I hope you find this clear now.

Thanks.

Ah, ok! That’s why I tried to clarify in the first instance if it was your Pro theme version or Font Awesome Pro version, as I knew you wouldn’t be able to do anything about it if it was down to Font Awesome!

I do still dread your updates though!

Ta!

Glad it’s ok now.
