After Latest Update: ID Tags No Longer Working & Grid Not Syncing

Hello,

After updating Cornerstone we’ve noticed a few issues. The ID tags we use are no longer working on desktop or mobile. They had been working previously. We use them for navigation on various pages of our site. For instance, here: https://www.avenueroadartsschool.com/adults-spring/.

Also, The Grid doesn’t appear to be syncing any longer. I tried to change the sorting preference from ‘By Title’ to ‘By Post Date’ and it won’t sync. The portfolio items aren’t even displaying by name either if I change them back. Such as here: by post date: https://www.avenueroadartsschool.com/summer-kids-camps/.

Other than updating the X Theme, I’ve added a photo resizing plug-in but the issues appeared before installing so it shouldn’t have any effect.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks for your time,
Kaycee

Hello Kaycee,

Thanks for writing in! I have checked your site and it appears that you are still using the release candidate 7.1.1 RC1 of the X theme with the latest version of Cornerston. Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.2.2
  • Cornerstone 4.2.2

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hello,

Thanks for the advice. It solved the issue for the ID tags, but the Grid is still not working correctly.

In my plug-in dashboard, it shows an update is required for The Grid. I update the plug-in, and I get a response saying the update has been completed. However, the ‘update required’ continues to show. I’m wondering if this is connected somehow?

The X-Theme and Cornerstone are updated to the versions you have listed above.

Thanks,
Kaycee

Hello,

Thanks for your help.

I tried to update the plug-in again after updating Cornerstone but the same issue is still happening. It says I have the most current version of the plug-in, which we don’t. The only way I can update it is if I use Bulk Actions. Then it says it has updated, but when I return to the plug-in panel it is still the old version and requires an update.

Hi Kaycee,

Please try to do a manual update of THE GRID. You can download the latest version from your THEMEFOREST account > DOWNLOADS. Let us know after the update. Latest version is 2.7.4

Hello,

We did the manual update as requested and the same issues is still happening. I’m not sure what to do.

Thanks,
Kaycee

Hello Kaycee,

I have investigated the page and I found out the issue. You have added two identical ID names such as this:

Be advised that element IDs must be unique and there SHOULD NOT be any duplicates. Only use the ID in the section. In this case, the “drawing” must only be used as the section ID so that when you click on a link “#drawing”, the page scrolls to the Drawing section.

Please edit your page and double check your ID names and its placement.

Best Regards.

Hello,

The ID tags worked after I updated. There are no longer an issue, but I have made the ID tags unique should any future issues arrive.

However, The Grid feature is still not working correctly. All of the grids have unique names and IDs. So I’m not sure what is happening. We manually updated the plugin and that did not fix the issue.

Thanks,
Kaycee

Hello,

Our offsite support was able to come up with a work around by using the sorting feature, but the source ordering still doesn’t work correctly just so you are aware.

Thanks,
Kaycee

Hey Kaycee,

I see that no ordering option will work on your grid. I specifically tested the Adult - Ceramics - Spring grid.

The Grid ordering is working in my test site though so there could be something in your setup causing the issue. Please do the following tests to see if a plugin or a custom code in your child theme is causing the issue.

  1. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

  2. Switch to the parent theme and test if the issue persists.

If none of that helps, please copy your live site to a staging server because we need to check further. I’m afraid to test in your live site as I might break something and it could disrupt your live site’s operation. Please then give us staging WP Admin and FTP access.

Thanks.
