I just updated X and now I find the layout has shifted slightly. Most notable is the columns are off-line with each other and the page padding seems off.

When I built this site I used shortcodes in a very early X theme (actually pre-cornerstone) - please see the screenshot. I wonder if you have any solutions for this issue that does not require a major structural change.

Hi Nick,
I’m having similar issues. The problem is that ‘enters’ in the text editor are now converted into
tags (line breaks). I like to use enters for readability, to make things look nice and clean as in your screenshot.
I’ve posted a request about it here:
Anyway, if you want to fix it quickly, you can remove all the enters.

Please check the provide thread above, it’s related but we’ll keep checking. Wordpress convert line breaks to HTML codes so please remove them manually for now.

We’ve identified a potential cause for this issue related to the update. Would you mind providing login credentials?(WordPress admin & FTP) We could try a patched version of Cornerstone on your site to see if it addresses the problem.

If you click on the icon in the post that looks like a key, you can add a “Secure Note.” Any content added to the Secure Note input is only visible by yourself and our staff. No other forum users will be able to access it in any way.
I’m having a similar issue to this…
I’ve updated some text on a column (which has a list of points).
It is now formatting entirely differently.
Other columns which show in the style I want are fine, until I click on them. Even without editing, they’re reverting to an odd style, full of lots of extra spaces.
I can sort of bodge it by working on the HTML version, but it’s masses and masses of text - and any attempts to edit it as text is extremely frustrating.

I am seeing a couple of errors in Chromes Inspection tool, I am not too sure how much of an issue this is?
Also, I am seeing an issue with a particular page which is quite big content wise but not so big with page weight - I wonder if it the shortcodes that are the cause of any hindrance here? (I am planning to revise his page but I was interested in your opinion)
Running the following two pages through a Website speed test tool in Chrome gives results that indicate it is possibly the shortcode rather than the page weight that is causing a load issue…(the heavier page does not load well in Mozilla Firefox)

Hi Guys,
I’ve ran the update, and it’s still not working correctly for me… (or as I’d expect).
Basically, my pages are built with cornerstone, most text is “classic text”.
My old work still looks good, but if I go in to add/ammend any of it, all of the formatting instantly goes a bit strange.
I’ve built a lot of my text using “shift-return” for a next line. All of these revert to a typical return, with a gap.
This has left me rather snookered! I can’t currently change or add anything, and there’s a few parts of the site that now look a bit mad.

@Niky67 I’ve taken a look and if you go to custom JavaScript in Theme Options there’s a syntax error in the Google Analytics code. This is causing the first console error. The second is because you likely installed the demo content quite some time ago and it’s using an invalid reference. If you go to Theme Options > Layout & Design you can just simply remove the background image.
Regarding the performance, this wouldn’t really have anything to do with shortcode output. Reducing the amount of content on the page would help it load faster.
@fogonthetyne I’m not sure why that’s happening but if you open a new thread we could check it out there. It sounds like it may just be how WordPress treats linebreaks. The change we made in this recent point release was basically to revert what was done in the major release. At this point it should be the way it has always been.
