Hi there. On my /services webpage I just added a second slider. I added ID to both sliders. But after having run the slides in approx 5 seconds it creates an error. I can only replicate this in a small viewport (on my mobile), but the error occurs on both Chrome and Safari. See secure note for login credentials. Thanks.
Hello @nblund,
Thanks for writing to us.
I checked the site URL you provided, and both sliders are working perfectly on my end when tested in Google Chrome. Please purge all cache from your caching plugin and clear your browser cache, then test again. Browser caching often causes display inconsistencies across devices.
Thanks
Hi @prakash_s, thanks. Before writing to you I tested it in multiple browsers (as you know). During that process I emptied cache (cornerstone + browsers) multiple times. Unfortunately, that didn’t do the trick. The problem relates to the first slider - your image shows the second slider on that page. See attached Safari error message. Chrome returned the same kind of error.
, which says: There were repeated problems with [ …/services/#next. Can’t say if it makes sense, but I can only replicate the issue on my mobile.Hello @nblund,
I’ve tested your website on both Safari and Google Chrome using an iPhone 14, and everything is working perfectly on my end. Browser cache is the most common cause of display differences on iOS devices. Please clear your browser cache and test again.
Thanks
Hi again! Please see the video at https://streamable.com/q1o3fe to see what happens. I can replicate the error on another mobile phone. Just to be clear, after going to the page, I don’t do anything but wait for the error to occur. Thanks
Hello @nblund,
I tried accessing the video URL you provided, but unfortunately, it’s not accessible from my end. Could you please share the correct video link so we can review it properly on our side?
Thanks
I can’t upload the video here. You can’t access streamable.com. Okay, let’s try another way. Please see secure note. Thanks.
Hey @nblund,
Like my colleague, I’m not getting the issue on my end. I tested in multiple phones also. This means that the issue is isolated either on your devices or your network. Please try a different mobile device and also connect to a different network.
Hi there.
Can I ask, are you allowing enough time when testing? As you can see on the video, the error doesn’t occur immediately.
FYI,
- I set up a test page at /test.
- The error seems not to appear systematically (although I guess the technical error is systematic).
- There are two signs of error: a) Once in a while the slider reboots although it didn’t reach the final slide; and b) once in a while the slider “enables the browser to break down” as you can see in the video.
- The issue isn’t just about adding the second slider. I tried deleting it again, and the error remains.
- When I disable autoplay, the slider behaves as expected (no error).
- I also tried removing the header and footer (I have som JS in the header), but that didn’t change the behaviour (/test is currently set up without header and footer).
- It only occurs on a mobile phone (no matter what browser or network) and only when the slider is in the viewport.
Thanks.
Hello @nblund,
I tested your site on my iPhone using both Chrome and Safari, and everything is working perfectly on my end. This appears to be a device- or configuration-specific issue unique to your setup. I recommend testing on a different device or reaching out to a local developer for further troubleshooting.
Thanks for understanding
Hi again. The issue remains. I’ve tested in different environments on different devices. I’m aware that you are of the opinion that this is a device- or configuration-specific issue unique to my setup. I’m not so sure. Please, tell me what kind of documentation it would require to make you think this could be an error after all. Then I’ll try to document it. Thanks.
Hello @nblund,
It’s a unique issue occurring on your end. I recommend contacting a local developer for assistance. Also, please create a new page, add multiple sliders, and test if the problem persists.
Thanks
Hi @prakash_s
Sorry, I didn’t explain that well enough. I did set up a test page (to pages actually: /test (pretty much a copy of the original page) and /test2 (a simple page with one slider)). The same problem happens on those pages.
If you don’t mind, it would help me to know what you would need to see to think that this could be the system instead of a device- or configuration-specific issue unique to my setup?
Thanks.
Hey @nblund,
Regretfully, there is nothing we could do to help. You will need a developer to work closely with you to fix the issue in your device. Again, it’s in your device because we already tested multiple devices on our end and we cannot replicate the issue.
Hi there. I believe you are saying there is nothing you can do to help because you can’t replicate the issue, right? I don’t mean to upset you, but I think there could be an issue her that would interest you as well: How many different environments or devices did you test it on? I tried 10 different constellations of network / os / phones, and I can replicate it.
Further to the above, the issue doesn’t occur when I use autoplay > marquee (or as you know from the above if I turn off autoplay).
Yes. We tested on different Android, iPhone, different versions of mobile OS and browsers. Please detail the exact OS and browser name and version you tested this on.
Thanks.
That’s a fair request. I didn’t put that down, so I’ll have to do it again. Please give me some time.
No problem. Take your time.
