Adding Elements to a Portfolio Page

Is it possible to add Elements (such as a Content Area) to a page built from the Portfolio template? At present on my site the Elements drag & drop doesn’t seem to work on pages based upon the Portfolio template.

Thanks for writing in!
Page builder doesn’t work in portfolio template. Portfolio template is to show portfolio items not any regular content or element.
