Add results from cornerstone created content in search

Hi,

After making my website i added the search magnifying glass to the navbar. When i search it only shows results from the navbar not the content of the pages. I am certainly no search expert. How do i get better search results?
For example i am looking for the word onderwijs on my site and get no results. It is in at least one of my pages…
I am using x child theme on http://wp.edboon.net
In the forum i see mostly search topics in the context of layout…
So how do i get the content of pages in relevant search result?
Also, how can i get a summary at each search result?

Thanks.

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! Can you try utilizing a 3rd party plugin like WP Extended Search (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-extended-search/) and see if you can improve your search results.

Hope that helps.

I have this plugin installed now. Same results i’m afraid…
You can try it if you want. Any other suggestions?

OK. So i have installed a different plugin called relevanssi. After creating an index it seems to address my question. This, for me, is a quick and dirty solution.

Is there an article that guides developers into building a decent search function on a x-theme site, addressing the indexing, query results and possibly even the layout, other than just switching on the “Activate search functionality”?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Byjuud,

We use the default WordPress search functions in X theme, the WordPress search function is somehow limited, that’s why there are a bunch of plugins that enhance it, like the one you are using right now. I recommend checking this article to learn more about improving WordPress search function.

Thanks.

Well, thank you very much. That answer is informative and sufficient. Thanks for pointing me to that article. You can consider this topic closed.
