Add category to breadcrumbs in WooCommerce

Hi, I want to add the product category to the breadcrumbs for a WooCommerce product page. So the hierarchy would be home -> shop -> category -> product, instead of the current which is home -> shop -> product.

I have read some old support threads 3-4 years back, indicating the editing of functions.php, but I see things have changed since then, mainly with v2 elements. What is the correct way to achieve this today? And will the implementation also work with sub-categories? Ie. home -> shop -> category -> sub category -> product

Hi bilievesser,

We have already a snippet that can get the category of normal posts and append it to breadcrumbs structure, WooCommerce is much more complex and getting the product category as you want in breadcrumbs will require further development/customization which is beyond our support scope, perhaps with the snippet I linked to and some tutorials on the internet you might spend some time getting it done or you can hire a developer to achieve that customization.
