I am an experienced developer, at home with PHP, JavaScript, CSS, etc. A new client has asked me to maintain and update his website, which was created using the X theme (I believe with the Renew stack) and Cornerstone. On one page there are 3 ‘Sections’. In Section 2 there is a ‘Row’ and then 2 ‘Columns’. Inspecting Column 1 I found an entry called “Background Image.” The image was making the text unreadable. I removed it, then tried to insert it as a background image in Column 2, which was empty. I have searched and searched, but Column 2 doesn’t have an entry (under “Design” or anywhere) for a background image. How do I insert this image as a background in the empty second column?

It’s possible that the Row containing the Column elements is a Looper Provider. You can check this by inspecting the element, go to the Customize tab and look for the Looper section. If this is the case, anything that you do in the second column will not take any effect. You may need to deactivate the Looper option or do your changes in the first column. Thank you, Ismael. I may be an experienced Web developer, but I am an absolute novice at Cornerstone! The Row is not a Looper. However, I discovered that if I tick the ‘Advanced’ option in the ‘Setup’ for the Column itself, new options appear in the ‘Design’ area: ‘Lower’ and ‘Upper’. Previously, I only ticked the ‘Advanced’ option after ticking the ‘Edit’ option (which just showed me a colour palette). So now I have solved the initial problem: the background image is inserted. But it is a sign of my novice status that I now have no idea how to change the size of the second column (it has a fixed size) or make the image responsive! I have spend some time among the Themeco docs and videos, but I’m wondering if you could recommend a set of docs or videos which would help me EDIT pages already built using Cornerstone (and stop me from taking up the time of you and your colleagues)!

It’s great that you can find the option. I believe that you will slowly learn all the options available in the Theme and Cornerstone, I ould suggest you go through the following documentation and the vidoes.
