ADA compliance for new Pro theme?

Some of our latest WooCommerce stores/clients have a base requirement of meeting ADA compliance (private sector). As we’ve been going through the various criteria, I’ve realized a few things.

1. there aren’t many themes out there that advertise themselves as ADA compliant
2. the proper solution (without adding more plugins) seems to be submitting WooCommerce pull requests/updates that integrate ADA compliant changes
3. the secondary solution would be to create additional child theme pages, utilizing required changes on our end. We’d have to modify the WooCommerce & parent theme files, to create those child theme changes.

To summarize… I do believe that if Theme.co took ADA Compliance into consideration towards the latest theme… well, that’d be a win, win for everyone! AND, there’d be 1 more ADA Compliant theme out in the WP theme world.

We follow accessibility best practices, but because our theme has a page builder and is highly customizable we can’t guarantee that all sites will adhere to any kind of accessibility standard. That is the responsibility of the developer creating the site.
