Activating Cornerstone triggers a fatal error!

I manually installed Cornerstone. However, when I try to activate it, the following pops up:

  • Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
  • Warning: require_once(includes/boot.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/cornerstone.php on line 26
  • Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘includes/boot.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/php’) in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/cornerstone.php on line 26

First it looked to me like a problem with path settings. But then I found in the Cornerstone description (view details) the following (discouraging) statement:
Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.

Can anyone advice on how to solve this problem?

Additional remark:
I have replaced the original version of Cornerstone with a new one, directly loaded from the WP Cornerstone website which allowed to activate Cornerstone without errors or warnings. But X still doesn’t recognize Cornerstone and insists on manual installation.

What else can I try?

Hi @BC-Canadian,

Thanks for writing in.

In this case, please share us your FTP and admin credentials so we could check why it is not working properly.

Don’t forget to set it in a secure note.

Thanks.

Hi @nico,

presently I’m still testing WP with the X-theme on /localhost on my home PC (OS is Ubuntu 16.04) without external FTP access.
The files are stored at
/var/www/html/wp-content/themes/x/.
and
/var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/
respectively.
WP does run with the X-theme activated, however, X doesn’t connect to cornerstone

I’m my own admin and (hopefully) can get you the info you need.
I hope the screenshots are of some help

Thanks

Hi,

Please update wordpress to Version WordPress 4.9.4

Then make sure you have the following versions for php and mysql.

PHP version 7.2 or greater.
MySQL version 5.6

Hi,
I’m already running WP vers. 4.9.4 and MySQL vers. 5.7.21.
No changes after upgrading to PHP vers. 7.2.3 and restarting the system

Hi,

You installed the wrong plugin.

Kindly delete that plugin and install the correct plugin that is located in wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins/cornerstone.zip

Thanks

Hi @paul.r

After I installed the correct plugin, the system came back again with the old warning and fatal error messages I described at the beginning.
This – as I found out – was caused by insufficient permission rights, which was easy to fix
Now everything works correctly!

Thank you very much for the assistance.

You’re welcome!
