ACF Pro automatic update

Hi,

I think I have mentioned this before as well but I can see there is an update to ACF Pro. The knowledgebase article for Version compatibility also tells me that the latest version (5.6.10) is supported. But I cannot update it.

I have to Deactivate the plugin > Delete it > and Re-install it via Pro options to be able to get the latest version.

I think if a version is supported, I should be able to update it with a normal workflow of pushing the update button.

Could you please advise why this is not updating?

Yes, all plugins that is supported, you should be able to update automatically. I have tested this in my test site.
Wordpress checks for plugin update every 12+ hours and sometimes you need to click on Check Again for wordpress to be able to detect that there is a plugin update

The problem is not with the detection. It detects fine!

The problem is with updating. When I see that there is a version update and try and update it - it complains that the package is not available.

But when I deactivate and delete the plugin and the re-install it via Pro menu - it installs the latest version.

So, if there is a latest package available - why doesn’t it update it in the first place?

Yup, I had to delete the plugin and reinstall to get the latest version as well. Automatic updates don’t work.

I just tested updating ACF Pro to 5.6.10 in my test site using the update now link and it successfully updated. No error has been generated.

Looks like there’s something in your system causing updates to fail. If it happens again next time, try reloading the plugins page and try updating again. Also try with ACF Pro deactivated. If those does not help, please get back to us with WP admin and cPanel credentials in a Secure Note.

I cannot think of what is in my system. I have few sites over couple of hosting providers and all do the same thing. Will let you know what happens with the next update of ACF Pro.

Let us know how it goes. You could create also a new thread before updating again so that we could be notified. You could also create a dev site first with the same setup so that we could access your setup further.
