8.1.2 Causes Fatal error: Uncaught Error on website

Hi There,
I went into a client site to do some updates, and updated the the current x theme from 7.2 something to the current one, and found I got an error from wordpress saying
" There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.
Learn more about debugging in WordPress."

I got the email from WP and it seems to be the Cornerstone plugin causing errors. So I went back and restored to yesterday’s backup and followed these suggestions on the forum and still had no luck.

I would also suggest you follow the below steps while updating to the latest version of the theme.

1. Delete the Cornerstone
2. Update the X theme to the latest version on automatic updates
3. After the X theme is updated, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone . It will be at the latest version

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As I have an upset client on the other end :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks so much!

EDIT I just went in and manually deleted cornerstone since I cannot access it at all in the backend because of the critical error message. After it was manually deleted, everything in the backend was working correctly again. However, when I click on the “X” icon on the left hand side I just get a white page with the same “There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” message.

So the Error is coming when I install the new 8.1.2 version of X. When I install it, and go to click on the X in the backend menu, I get this error on the page, and that is it. When I reinstall the Cornerstone plugin, this error then not only goes on the front end, but also on the backend and I can access anything “pages, posts, themes, plugins…etc”

I will add a secure note for access. I had my server people look at it and they said they can’t do much as it’s a problem with a plugin.

I found the culprit! It took all day, but I found it.
It was an Woocommerce plugin called “Woocommerce Product Custom Options Lite”

Glad you were able to identify the problem, @pettar2462!
