404 error message when trying to open or edit pages in Cornerstone

Hi there,

I am unable to access Cornerstone Pro on my most recent purchase of the X Theme.

When I try Pages > Edit in Cornerstone, I get the Cornerstone Pro ‘Launch’ screen and when I click launch it takes me to a dark page and if I refresh I get a 404 error message. The same now happens if I go X > Cornerstone. It was working earlier but now I can’t use it at all.

I tried updating the theme, deactivating and reactivating and deleting the Cornerstone plugin and trying again but no luck. I’m trying to create a temporary website on a very tight time budget so I’m looking for help asap!!

Thank you for reaching out to us. I checked your setup and it seems like you’re using incompatible versions of X and Cornerstone, Please make sure to update both X and Cornerstone to the latest versions to avoid potential errors and conflicts.

Hi Nabeel,

Thank you, I updated both X and Cornerstone again (already tried this) and I still can’t access Cornerstone?

Can you please help? I am a returning X Theme customer and only bought the license the other day and I’m experiencing these problems. As I’ve explained I’m trying to put a temporary site for my organisation together quickly and this is preventing me from doing so.

Hi Isla,

The issue is with your permalink settings. To get the issue resolved, please go to Settings > Permalinks and make sure that you are not using the default setting. The Post Name is the most common setting that works with Cornerstone returning 404 issues. I went ahead and changed it already.

Kindly check your site now.
