2 issues since installing WPML — header not showing up, some pages not displaying properly

Hello,
I started having small issues as soon as I installed the WPML plugins in order to add a 2nd language to my client’s site.

I have 2 different headers: one for the entire site (global) and one for only the online store part (which includes [1] a specific page, and [2] the custom post type “Product”. The 2 headers both have a desktop and a mobile version (different bars that are shown/hidden based on media query option). Each header have been translated to French, using the small flags found at the bottom right of the screen to toggle between languages.

The issues:

  1. The online store header does not show up at all (I am a bit confused what conditions to set, now that I have 2 languages. (I did not have any issue this morning before installing WPML)

  2. There are 3 specific pages on the French side that appear all broken (like if there was broken CSS). Not all pages have this issue, so I find it weirder. Only the French contact page, ayurveda page and sauna page.

It is easier to see the issue when visiting the website directly. Currently has an Under Construction page, so I’ll add the credentials in a secure note.

I have tried clearing my cache, deactivating all plugins, using other browser, but the issue persists.
This is linked to WPML, so I will also contact them about it.

This could also be a simple issue or setting that I did not configure correctly! I am hoping that you will be able to help me out.

Thanks in advance!!!

Emile

Hello @Emile,

Thanks for writing in!

You may have resolved the issue because when I check your pages, I could not see any issues.

See the secure notes.

It could also be just caching, amongst other things. Please check out this troubleshooting article here and follow the instructions for the following sections (where appropriate):

Testing for Plugin Conflict
Child Theme
CSS/JS Customization
Disabling Cache
Disabling CDN

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel,
Thanks for the reply! Yes I was finally able to fix it, the 1st issue was probably a conditions conflict for the headers, and the 2nd issue seems to have been cache related.

Just so I assign the headers properly next time I work with WPML, can you please explain to me what conditions I should set for each? Do I set the main header to ‘entire site’ with a priority of -1, then my specific online shop header to ‘specific page’+‘post type: product’ with a priority of -2? Do you have a detailed how-to about working with WPML and the new Pro Layouts?

Thanks so much
Émile

Hi Émile,

To better understand the page assignment and the priority, please check out @Kory’s video series:

Hope this helps.
