2.3.8 | Not able to insert page templates with long names

I’m sure this is a bit of an edge case but I ran into it the other day on a client site. We were trying to load up a page template which happened to have a longer name. Due to this, we were not able to access the “insert” button to the right of the toggle. Hitting enter or other keyboard shortcuts also didn’t work.

We ended up having to go into the Template manager > shorten the name > reload the page we were working on > select the shorter name > insert.

Just thought this could be a simple fix and help polish things up.

Thanks.

Hello @DoncoMarketing,

Thanks for writing in! For better results in using templates, it is more advisable to use short and/or filename that does not have any spaces or any special characters. Please make use of the underscore “_” as a replacement for the space character specially if you have long filenames to avoid any issues.

Hope this helps.

Hi @RueNel - I appreciate your followup but this doesn’t even get at the issue. My issue isn’t with formatting and naming conventions with an “_” for longer filenames would still have this issue. This is a UI issue not accounting for long filenames and making the core functionality unusable…

And when you are about to insert it, you have this:
