2.1.5 Header & Footer CSS broken

Hey guys,

after updating to 2.0.4 to 2.1.5 on Pro my site lost header’s and footer’s CSS capabilities. When I am trying to make changes in the header creator, no manual changes have any effect on the header. It seems that the site is using the original cornerstone setting (color, typography) instead.

Same for the footer -

What could this be?

Thanks,
Sascha

Hi Sascha,

If you have any custom CSS codes added to the header or footer, I suggest running them through this validation tool to make sure they are valid and there is no syntax error with them.

In case this didn’t help, then please let us know at least one of the changes you are trying to do along with your WordPress Dashboard login in a Secure Note so we can investigate this issue.

Thanks.

Thank you Alaa,

first of all the only thing I was doing was updating thy site from 2.04 to 2.1.5.

In 2.04 I already noticed that the footer was “doubled”, and hoped that this will work out with the update. I didn’t make any changes in the CSS - I was only using the header and footer builder in the Pro theme to customize several header (taking from the template cloud). Very basic, just changing backgorunf color, adding a different logo, applying alternative menues for different languages of the site.

I tried re-installing the Pro - no efffect. I deleted the cornerstone plugin (as I read to get it automatically re-installed) and cornerstone is now gone in the list of plugins. I could not get it re-installed by revoking the licence and re-validating the liecence. However I can still go into the theme styling settings and change global styles like “colors for links”, which will effect the menues right away. Once I am opening the header builder and assign one of my headers to be the global header, the page can’t not be shown due to a conflict etc…

I used the validation tool - and the results were 7 errors and 609 warnings.

What can I do? I also asked my IT guys, and they are clueless (as they ar enot familiar with Pro or theme.co at all), and I need the site to be functioning asasp.

Thank you! Please help!

Hi There @Saschacanarywharf

Since you’re using Pro theme, you don’t have to install Cornerstone plugin separately. With regard to your custom CSS, did you remove it from your site? I have checked your Header, Footer builders and Pro theme options but I could not find them. If you have seen errors in your custom CSS, your CSS will not parse correctly unless you resolve them.

Also it’s better if we can get access to the root level of your WordPress multi-site, so that we can test your site and also provide us with your FTP credentials in a secure note.

Thanks!

the only thing I deleted was the plugin Cornerstone, as I read in the support forum to ensure that it is the newest version (and that deleting and re-validation will trigger a download of the newest version). I guess that was not a good idea. Othwise I have not touched the CSS (as I really don’t know anything about CSS at all). I am not a designer or web builder.

I have a backup of the sontent - would you then recommend to wipe off the server and start with a new wordpress install? With a fresh Pro theme upload, I should sort it out the quickest?

I can send you the credentials in a secure note to the multisite.

Thanks!

Hello There,

I noticed that there were several copies of Pro theme in your theme’s folder.

I have disabled the incorrect ones and activated the right one. Your headers should be working now.

Please check it now.

Guys - Thank you very much for your help! It working again! Wonderful job! The best support I have seen by far!!!

You are most welcome.
