The Yoast %%name%% snippet heading short code to work? We have been able to get all the other %%code%% short codes to work – but the author name one is the one we really need and doesn’t.

It looks like this is an issue with X theme itself. So are you aware of this and is there a work around while still being able to draw the author details from the User profiles rather than pulling it in from Google+

    Many thanks

    Ned

    Hey Ned,

Regretfully, at this time I am not entirely certain what it is you would like to accomplish based on the information given in your post. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do (a link to a similar example site would be very helpful, or perhaps some screenshots), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.

    Thanks.

Ok within the Yoast SEO plugin – there is a facility to include the name of the author in the SEO heading without using up a keyword. This is done by using %%name%% in the snippet header. There are a number of other codes i.e. %%Title%% which work fine – however the %%name%% which pulls in the author name doesn’t work. I have been in touch with Yoast and they say that they have come across issues with some WordPress themes that stops/doesn’t support the %%name%% from working.

On sites where there are a number of authors publishing more than once this supports Google’s support of authors over content and allows for cleaner set up of SEO.

    Hey There,

X theme doesn’t interfere with Yoast SEO settings. We have so many customers using Yoast on their X theme. You can try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes.
