    Wordpress
    X Theme
    Cornerstone

This is the URL to the example of the Woocommerce shope for the Integrity version of X theme – http://demo.theme.co/shop-integrity/

I have been 100% completely Unable to replicate this despite the statement at the top of the page “and ALL of this is included within the one X theme.”

#1 With a fresh install of WooCommerce, and using the default WooCommerce ‘Shop” page – you do not get a grid of any (or an adjustable) size – it is just large (depending on your screen size) products all arranged vertically.

#2 I cannot get any Woo widgets to display in a sidebar, but rather the default sidebar widgets I have enabled for my blog.

To get around both issues (sort of) this I create a page called test store and use the WooCommerce shortcodes to display the products for sale.

Now I can add some widgets I want (at least some of them – not all display) using a widgets plugin that determines what widgets go where. Except I now find that I cannot show the filter by price widget. After some research I discover here (https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/styling-for-custom-page-created-using-woocommerce-shortcode/) in a statement by ‘Nabeel A’ that ‘You can only use price filter widget in the Shop archive page. It will not work on custom pages even if the price filter is included in your sidebar. It’s only going to work for the default Shop query.’

‘Nabeel A’ continues by saying ‘However it could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this.’

    So…

If I cannot get a grid to display products in the standard WooCommerce ‘shop’ page, and you cannot have the filter-by-price widget work in a page other than the WooCommerce ‘shop’ page, then could someone please provide instructions on how to build a page that you show as possible in the theme example?

Additionally, the page displayed isn’t called shop, but is called shop-integrity, which would lead me to think this is not the default WooCommerce ‘shop’ but a custom version of the shop page in a child theme.

    Lastly,

Your example page, as noted above has this in the source code before the list of products
    <ul class=”products cols-3″>

My default WooCommerce ‘shop’ page has this
    <ul class=”products”>

and my ‘test store’ page using cornerstone and the WooCommerce shortcode in a text box has this

    …<div class=”woocommerce columns-3″>

    <ul class=”products”>

So my final question is this,
A: are there instructions somewhere that will enable me to replicate the store page you say is possible

    or

B: is the store page that you show in the example not actually possible natively and actually created using “custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer.”

Meaning “You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this.” to create the page as it is shown in the theme example ?

Given that the question to my question is really A or B I expect that you will be able to tell me without the need to look at my site, because Im really asking about the wonderful example people see before buying the theme.

    Thanks n stuff.

    Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! I am not seeing any custom content on the Integrity 1 demo shop page. Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

    – Link to your site
    – WordPress Admin username / password
    – FTP credentials

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in!

The shop page in our demo is achievable without custom development. For some reason woocommerce setting doesn’t work properly and there are some JS errors in your console.
Please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

In regards with sidebar, I checked the box ‘Enable sidebar on shop index page’ under Appearance -> Sidebars to display custom sidebar on shop page.

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m still kind of confused about the nature of being able to replicate the same Store-Integrity look without any instructions or additional information.

You enabled “Appearance -> Sidebars > display custom sidebar on shop page.” and that worked.

However, Sidebars is a plugin I had to install – it is not something that comes natively with WordPress or X theme.

I just disabled it again ‘display custom sidebar on shop page’ it and the Woo Commerce plugins are gone and I am back to default WooCommerce page with the standard site widgets that I have for blog posts.

This would appear to indicate that I cannot put whatever plugins I want in the sidebar of the default Woocommerce ‘Shop’ page

Additionally, nothing I do in wordpress to change the Shop page actually has any affect eg., Blank, no container, no header, no footer etc. because while I can enter text in the TEXT tab and it will appear before the products, it is not ‘controlled’ by wordpress from a layout perspective.

So I looked in console and saw one error related to bootstrap in Webpack. Unable to discover which plugin that may be, I deactivated all plugins and one by one reactivated all of the plugins.

Now there are no errors in console. Sadly, the page still does not display the store contents as a grid and the page still inherits the plugins that I have setup for the blog.

Unless Im still missing something major, what I have learned so far is this:

There is no way to make a WooCommerce implementation look like Shop-Integrity straight out of the box.
There does not appear to be any instructions or documentation with X Theme to help replicate the store example that is shown before you buy the theme.
There is no way to have the default Woocommerce ‘Shop’ page display specific widgets without the addition of a plugin like the sidebar plugin.
There is no way to have the default Woocommerce ‘Shop’ page display the products as a grid.

Now that I know I need to use the sidebar plugin for the widgets, the only remaining question then is how to make it appear as a grid. Since you said there is no custom development on the demo page, I must be just missing some checkbox in X
    Y/N?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

We are not using any third party plugin for the sidebar so I am not really sure what you are referring by “Now that I know I need to use the sidebar plugin for the widgets”. Also I am not certain about your question that which grid you are referring. Kindly summarize what you are trying to achieve right now and how we could assist you. Again there is nothing extra ordinary done on the demos and all are native X feature. So don’t get confused and clarify your real problem briefly to get right direction.

    Cheers!

Ok, I must be doing an incredibly poor job of explaining myself….

I put a fresh install of WooCommerce on the site. After I added 2 test products, when using the default WooCommerce ‘Shop’ page, they only display one above another in a vertical manner with huge images – not in a grid like they are displayed in the ‘Shop-Integrity’ example.

By grid, I mean 3 per row with small thumbnails – again – see here for what that loops like – http://demo.theme.co/shop-integrity/

To see what mine looks like – visit the ‘shop’ URL I provided earlier.

When using the default WooCommerce shop page, I cannot specify what widgets appear in the sidebar without the installation of a Sidebar plugin because that page inherits the sidebar widgets I have setup for my blog.

If you visit the ‘Shop’ URL I provided and compare that to the demo shop – http://demo.theme.co/shop-integrity/ – you will see the difference.

Let me know if that is not clear because I truly don’t know any other way to say it.

Did you try importing the Integrity 1 demo? If not, please do so as what it does is set the Customizer settings like the demo site. See https://community.theme.co/kb/demo-content/ for more details.

Alternatively, you can setup X WooCommerce settings in Appearance > Customize. Under the X WooCommerce setting, set Shop Columns to 3 or 4 so that it does not stack vertically or 1 column.

For the Sidebar, please see https://community.theme.co/kb/unlimited-sidebars/ to learn how to setup a sidebar. After that, you can add WooCommerce widgets to your sidebar that displays in your shop page.

See our Knowledge Base to learn more about X.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Christian,

I admit I had mistakenly thought I had added sidebars as a plugin myself because it is not in other sites I manage.

Part of my confusion regarding the grid is that I already went into customize and set the columns to 3 and 2 and it makes no difference.

Next I will try the demo content, if that works great, however it will leave me with cleanup on this install (products, images, categories etc), and as I prepare to install X on a client site with hundreds of products, I still don’t know how to make this a grid without installing demo content.

Seems weird that I can’t get an answer on what I need to do to make a grid happen. Installing demo content shouldn’t be the answer. UNLESS the answer is ‘you have to have ‘X’ number of products before a grid will display. – even then it doesn’t explain why the grid displays when I use a regular page (instead of the WooCommerce ‘Shop’) with shortcodes.

    **************************

    Just tried this….

#1 Thank God I already decided to create a backup of the site because the demo content is for the entire site and not just the store.

#2 Backup completed and demo content import – content did not magically enable any grid, nor did I see any products imported etc

#3 No offence to anyone but could you please escalate this to a higher level support – it should not be this difficult to answer this question

Lastly, I HIGHLY recommend that before you suggest to anyone about installing demo content that you ask if they have backup and restore capabilities so they can get their site content back. Alternatively, suggesting the install of demo content should only be suggested if the site is brand new and not already populated with content.

Would love to hear from someone who reads the entire thread, use4s the credentials I have supplied to see what is going on and simply tells me what to do – that would be very refreshing, and maybe we can finish out this question on day 3.

    1. Website backup is standard in web development before making changes to your site. Sorry if I missed that as I assumed this is already known. See https://community.theme.co/kb/demo-content/

    2. Please try downgrading WooCommerce to version 2.6.3 as this is the currently supported version. See https://community.theme.co/kb/version-compatibility/. See https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-downgrade-woocommerce for downgrade instructions.

    3. Please downgrade your WooCommerce version first. This issue doesn’t happen on our test site and that is the only time we could submit a bug report or escalate this to our core developers. Yes, the setup is easy provided that all conditions are met including the version compatibility, no plugin or script conflict, no issues with web host, etc… Regretfully, we could not list them all in our Knowledge Base that is why we need to investigate and try out solutions.

There are use cases when a user wanted to use another style from the demo even the site is finished. Also, when you setup the demo content, there is a prompt that says:

Installing demo content will not alter any of your pages or posts, but it will overwrite your Customizer settings. This is not reversible unless you have previously made a backup of your settings. Are you sure you want to proceed?

    Thanks.

    Christian,

No worries about me and the backup, my concern is for anyone else reading this thread who may be less technical and for whom the assumption about not mentioning it may cost them a massive amount of Dev hours.

I say that because while I agree it shouldn’t change anything on the site, when I did the install of the Integrity 1 demo content, it 100% most definitely did change my home page. I lost everything I have currently and it reverted to what a fresh install of integrity 1 content looks like.

In other news … The downgrade to 2.6.3 did finally rectify to where the page looks like your example Integrity Shop so mission acomplished.

Maybe if I had included the version number of WooCommerce installed in my initial message (or if someone had asked) this would have been a shorter exchange πŸ™‚

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Glad it’s okay now. And yes, demo import can override your existing settings. It has no revert or restore functionality, backup is always recommended.

    Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚
