Jimmy PParticipantI am losing some customization when updating to the new version of X.
1. My YIT Quick View button on my products disappears after the update. I had some custom coding put in on that plugin which you can see in my child theme editor. It doesn’t look like the code changes which is why I am confused. I did check my plugins compatibility with the other plugins after updating and it worked fine. Only after updated the X theme did I see a problem. I backed up the site to when everything was working (all plugins updated and X NOT updated). I will leave my login credentials below.
Thanks.

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in! I don’t know where the button is supposed be so not sure how could we assist on this. Also it seems a third party plugin you are using to add the button. Regretfully, we cannot provide support for third party plugins or scripts as our support policy in the sidebar states due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.
Thank you for your understanding.

Jimmy PParticipantHi,
The third party plugin Quick View has updated the code to make it compatible with the X Update. However, there was another x update, and of course it did not work again once that was updated.
I recently asked the support team for the plugin for help with future X updated so that I didn’t have to contact them every time an update was done and their response if below. Is there anything you can do on your end to help or do I need to backup the files and restore every time? Is there an easier way to backup and restore? Any Suggestions on how to do this? Thanks for you help!Giuseppe (Your Inspiration Themes)

Hi James,
I’ve changed the file woocommerce.php on yit-plugin\wp-content\themes\x\framework\functions\global\plugins.
Also I’ve added a snippet on functions.php on theme/x-child.So my suggestion is to backup the files and to restore it after each theme update. This is, in my point of view, the easiest way.
Another way is to contact x-theme developers and ask them to integrate this compatibility on theme.Best regards,
Giuseppe

FriechModeratorHi Giuseppe,
This is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.
For now the easiest way is what the YITH Quick View support said
“backup the files and to restore it after each theme update.”
Thanks.

Jimmy PParticipantWith the new update that has just come out, I am getting the warning again that I will lose some customization.
Could you give me the steps to backup the files and restore after updating?
Is it tools – Export – All content ?
Then update X Theme and Import the file I previously exported??I just want to make sure I do it the right way.
Thanks,
Jimmy

RupokMemberHi Jimmy,
Thanks for writing in! You should keep the backup of your entire site if you don’t use any staging site. Not only the content from Tools > Export rather the complete files of your server, database and Customizer settings from Customizer Manager under X Addons.
Cheers!

Jimmy PParticipantI use GoDaddy for hosting and have automatic backups scheduled. I tried exporting the data and re-importing it after the X update and still lost customization from third party plugins.
Is there any other way to work around this?
I have a child theme set up..
I just restored from a previous backup so I am back to square 1, before the update.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,Jimmy

RupokMemberHi Jimmy,
Thanks for updating. We can’t check the customization of third party plugins but the above steps should work fine for X any standard plugins.
Cheers!
