kirkoconnorParticipantHi guys,
Getting a bit frustrated with X Theme here.
We have gone through the validation process and in X Product Validation message we are getting the following message “Yay! Automatic updates are up and running”
We also have entered our Envato purchase code and it is now in green so I am guessing we have performed the validation process correctly.
When we try and update Cornerstone through WordPress updates though we get the following message;-
An error occurred while updating Cornerstone: X is not validated. Validate X to enable automatic updates.
Surely both messages cannot be correct!
Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks

FriechModeratorHi Kirk,
Thanks for writing in! Your site is using an outdated version of X|Theme (v3.2.3), automatic update does not work with this version anymore. With that said you need to update the X|Theme manually, you can follow the guide provided here.
After a successful update, revoke and re-validate the site. You can follow this guide here.
Then update the Cornerstone and other plugins via Dashboard > Updates.
Remember to clear all caches after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers!

kirkoconnorParticipantThanks for the advice.
Lucky I have been around long enough to not try this on the client’s live site.
Tried it on a staging site and it failed spectacularly.
Cannot see what I have done incorrectly as it seems quite a simple procedure.
After downloading the latest version of X I followed this procedure;-
MANUAL X UPDATE VIA FTP
Unzip x.zip on your computer.
Rename the x folder to x-updating.
Connect to your server via FTP and navigate to your /wp-content/themes/ directory.
Drag and drop the x-updating folder into your themes directory.
Upon completion, rename the previous x folder to x-previous.
Rename x-updating to x. Your site will now be at the latest version.
Delete the x-previous folder.
Visit the WordPress dashboard at least once to ensure any migration logic can run (this happens behind the scenes). On plugins menu Cornerstone is throwing up the following error
Fatal error: Class ‘X_Update_API’ not found in /home/ipress12/public_html/staging/wp-content/themes/x/framework/functions/global/admin/addons/updates/class-plugin-updater.php on line 205
and that is as much of the plugins page I see…
Any ideas?
thanks

DarshanaModeratorHi there,
That means that one of the function files for X is missing. I would advise deleting X entirely, and reinstalling it. All of the settings are stored in the database, so you can safely delete the X theme folder (“/wp-content/themes/x“) during this process.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!October 20, 2016 at 3:47 am #1223595
kirkoconnorParticipantThanks – good to know that the settings are in the database.
Tried it again on the staging site for a much better result second time around.
Cornerstone then updated to the latest level as well.
Your help was much appreciated.
