It’s great that X-Theme includes a WPML config file to assist in translation, but I’ve found a big problem. Currently, the action for the custom field “x_video_embed” is set to “copy” instead of “translate”. This means that, when using WPML, the video embed code from the primary language is COPIED to all translations, meaning the same video appears in all languages. I would think in most cases (and certainly mine), users need to embed videos in different languages, but this is impossible right now without hacking the theme’s wpml-config.xml file to allow translation of the video embed field.

I strongly suggest this be fixed immediately and in all future releases of X-Theme. I suppose there may be instances where users would want the same video in every translation of a post, but they could simply paste the same embed code. NOT being able to use different embed coding per post translation is a serious problem.

    Thanks!

So X-Theme 4.6 came out and low and behold, “x_video_embed” is STILL set to COPY in the wpml-config.xml file for the theme, instead of TRANSLATE. And sure enough, updating the theme has overwritten all my multilingual videos with the URLs of the ENGLISH videos from the primary language posts. So now I have to go through and fix them all AGAIN.

WHY is this set to “copy”? When on earth would someone running a multilingual site NOT want the ability to post multilingual videos?

Please … PLEASE fix this for upcoming releases. It’s a simple one-word change to the wpml-config.xml file that would make a HUGE difference to the multilingual video capability of an otherwise outstanding theme.

    Thank you.
