CoreyKlinefelterParticipantHey there, I have a website – Alliancevideos.com that is currently live. I’d like to work on another draft of the site, to play around with design and visuals, without affecting the current live site. Also I’d like this draft to be completely blank so I could start from a fresh x theme template. How can I do this?

JoaoModeratorHi There,
You need to install X Theme in another folder/hosting and use the developer license available at
https://community.theme.co/my-licenses/ to validate your site.
Hope it helps

CoreyKlinefelterParticipantThis does help, i am sorry though, but I am not very website savvy.. I am good with cornerstone though, ha! Would you be able to clarify what folder I should install the x theme in and then where It should be located?

FriechModeratorHi There,
Either you create a new directory inside your live site WordPress installation root directory.
Or create a sub-domain of your URL
(e.g. www.mysubdomain.example.com)and install a new WordPress site and install the x|theme. Please contact your hosting support, if you’re having trouble creating a sub-domain.
Hope this shed some lights. Cheeers!

CoreyKlinefelterParticipantThank you I appreciate this. Now when I create the subdomain and create a draft of my website that I prefer over my current one how would I go about making the subdomain live but under my normal url?

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for the updates! Regretfully I did not completely get it. Both the sub domain and domain will always be live. Could please give further clarifications?
Or maybe you want something like this:
http://your-current.url/ http://your-new-draft.url/ or like this: http://your-current.url/ http://your-current.url/your-draft-url/Please let us know.

CoreyKlinefelterParticipantNo, so say if my draft is on alliancevideos.com/demo and its not published or live and I already have my site alliancevideos.com live, and I like my draft site that I made under the sub domain better than the current one I have under my regular domain. How would I make that draft site live, and make it live under my main domain AllianceVideos.com replacing the current front page I have now.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
If you have this setup;
http://your-current.url/ http://your-current.url/your-draft-url/It will be easy to make changes so that the draft url will be the live one. You can just follow this:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
http://www.websitedesignerinseattle.com/2012/01/making-wordpress-blog-root-directory-keeping-directory/If you want to have a sub domain, that would be a different story because domains and sub domains involves DNS and other server configuration. I would not recommend this for you as it might create server conflicts and otherwise would make your server down if misconfigured.
Hope this explains it.
