Hi I am hoping you can help.

I have a site going live next week and the latest woocommerce update seems to have done something strange to the product categories.

I can see in the category sidebar that multiple categories are showing more than once. this is also the case when looking at the categories in wpadmin.

I initially had my hosting company have a look at the problem and this is what they came back with.

I carefully checked your case and managed to replicate the issue.

Unfortunately, this seems to be an issue with WooCommerce and is beyond the scope of our hosting-related support. It is not directly connected to a server-side issue and does not indicate a problem with the hosting service we offer.

I have tried deleting the extra categories but that deleted all instances of each category. I have since restored a backup prior to the deletions.

I will add a private link to the site below

    Thank you

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

    – Link to your site
    – WordPress Admin username / password
    – FTP credentials

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

    Hi there,

Have you tried deleting them all and add them again? Those categories use the same ID and slug, hence, all editing, deleting, or any change will be applied on same ID/Slug.

Do you have any custom code that manually import/add products and categories? I like to check it but the provided FTP login credentials are wrong.

But I think, your data is already affected, hence, the only possible solution is deleting and manually add them.

    Thanks!

Thank you for the information and for looking at the problem.

each of the categories was manually input, no importing or duplication plugins etc.
Everything was fine until the data migration of the latest woocommerce update.

Not a problem I will delete and recreate. not ideal, but needs must
