    Hey guys,

PageSpeed Insights (https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/) says “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content. Your page has 29 blocking script resources and 14 blocking CSS resources,” giving me a score of 66/100 for speed.

GTMetrix says “Defer parsing of Javascript. 1.7MiB of JavaScript is parsed during initial page load. Defer parsing JavaScript to reduce blocking of page rendering,” giving me a 0% for that category.

These are some pretty ugly scores. I’ve searched for how to fix the render-blocking JavaScript but everyone suggests installing W3 Total Cache and I cannot install that plugin because the host we have is a specially made for WordPress sites with caching and optimization. So now I’m stuck with JavaScript errors all over the place and I have no clue how to fix them without downloading W3 Total Cache.

You’ll see on GTmetrix that I have 0% in the following under YSlow: Add Expires headers, Make fewer HTTP Requests, and Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN). I called my host and they said I do have a CDN on this site. I’m so confused.

Anyway, any help you can give me would be great.
    Thanks!

Thanks for your response! Checked that out and I have a question.

“About your render-blocking: we enqueue all our scripts in the footer there are only a few which MUST be in the header section due to reasons of functionality. Every theme with a lot of features has to do this because otherwise things would be broken. We only enqueue JavaScript on specific pages so if you use certain things not on one page the JavaScript simply does not get loaded so rest assured that we optimized our theme to the best we can.”

So should I be trying to put all of the scripts into the footer like said in that thread? If so, how would I go about to accomplish that?

No. That might cause issues. This is technically possible but would require custom development which is outside the scope of our support. You might want to contact our trusted partners who caters X setup and customization needs. Please see https://community.theme.co/custom-development/

    Thank you for understanding.
