supaflyjrParticipantToday every page of my client’s site said “Oops you blew up the internet” except the home page. My hosting provider failed to solve the problem and actually made it worse. After a restore the homepage was stripped of the design and was filled with shortcodes. The tech said cornerstone was causing a major conflict and deactivated it, but the whole site was built on cornerstone so it needs to be activated. Nothing we did afterward including downgrading wordpress versions (upgrading to 4.7 caused this same issue last month and we fixed it by downgrading) solved the problem. Now the entire site is down and tech said the error log all points to problems with cornerstone. Please help.

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks, but the FTP login credentials is not working. Is there any special procedure?
The issue might be related to rewrite which can be checked through .htaccess file.
Thanks!

ChristianModerator@supaflyjr, this is not an issue with Cornerstone but has to do with your permalinks. I changed it to default and your pages shows up. This has to do with corrupted htaccess file. Try this solution https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/how-to-reset-the-htaccess-file-of-your-wordpress-site-using-ftp-8527 to reset your htaccess.
@skinlabhk, please check the solution provided above.Thanks.

khomikoParticipantWhen that happens to me, I go to permalinks and change it to a different option, save it, then switch it back and it’s fine.

supaflyjrParticipantThanks a million! It’s a shame my service provider spent hours troubleshooting and couldn’t identify the problem at all.

ChristianModeratorYou’re welcome.

supaflyjrParticipantHey again. So I spent the last couple hours online with my hosting provider trying to correct the permalink issue. I designed the site to use the custom structure to easily tell what page the user is on, however on that setting the secondary pages all have the “Oops you blew up the internet” error message. Changing the permalink structure to Plain corrects this but it isn’t what I want. I had my hosting provider corrected the htaccess file per your suggestion but that didn’t work. In the end one of the senior techs said it appears to be some problem with the database that is preventing the permalink structure from being accepted. All the errors they could see are pointing to Cornerstone and he said the log shows 190 rewrite rules when it obviously shouldn’t. They suggested I get back in touch with you guys to try and correct this issue.

RadModeratorHi there,
They are right, rewriting the URL isn’t enough. There are something called query_var, and other stuff that WordPress system expected to see when the rewrite is forward to it. I’m afraid I couldn’t help you with this, it’s beyond my capability.
This http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/189168/custom-rewrite-with-query-vars is a sample, rewrite isn’t enough, you’ll need further coding and more complex structure.
Thanks for understanding.
