    Hi guys,

So I didn’t know if I needed to file this in the questions about X or the ones about conerstone but here goes.

I’m updating a client site (plugins, wp-core, and theme) and one of them is conerstone. Whats happening (and this has happended on more then one site where X is installed) is the following error message early into the update process:

    http://prntscr.com/bzimh6

The site will stay in this mode for about 10 to 15 min where neither the front or back end of the page are accessible.

The site where I’m experiencing this is:
    http://www.freedoms-edge.com/

Of course this only last about 15 or so. So by the time you get to this question it will probably be back to normal.

The real problem with this is that none of the updates are going thought.

I’ve talked to the hosting guys over at dreamhost about this cause at first I thought it was something on the server end but they have told me that things are looking good on there end (I’m kind of taking this with a grain of salt because they are pretty quick over at dreamhost to pass the buck).

So I guess my questions are:

Have you guys had any other reports like this?
And is there a fix / work around that I need to be doing?

    Thanks again for the help!

    John

    Hi John,

    Thanks for writing in.

It mostly due to failed updates or installation, when that happens, you can log into your site’s FTP and delete this file

    .maintenance

The main issue that you should check is why the update/installation fails. That also means that the update is already downloaded and already stored within your site, but it fails to install it. That something I’m not really sure what causes it. Maybe you can contact your hosting provider for any error log.

    Thanks!
