Justin, hope you don’t mind me saying that, I think a full screen slider on home is a bit distracting. Since it doesn’t allow the visitor to consume your content at their own pace. If you ever think of replacing it, a full screen home page video, or a full screen home page image with layers fading in (something Revolution Slider is great for), might be more effective. If you keep the slider though, I’d make all transitions on it be the same.
On a different note, it was a real good idea of yours to use the skill bar shortcode to describe tech specs of products.
Best of best,
BFebruary 20, 2015 at 12:27 am #210745Thanks Branko, I appreciate all feedback. Especially well developed concepts.
On this one I agree wholeheartedly but the client made some changes.
I did have the images fading with a very long delay, about 9 seconds, but the client went and changed it all.
I give my clients full control over their site and try and guide what they do to the best of my ability. Most of the time they do defer to my advice but I lost on this one. I do think they will come around and revert back to the original way. It’s just a better way of working.
I loved using the skill and price shirt codes a little differently. They look great and give a clear indication to users of specs. On top of this, they are brilliant for the client to update. Just so easy.
Regards
Justin.
February 20, 2015 at 2:44 am #210809Hello everybody,
We are building a product called Screensaver Ninja (https://screensaver.ninja), it’s a screensaver that displays websites one after the other so that your own computer or a dedicated monitor can be turned into a dashboard displaying your Google Analytics, your KISSmetrics, Moz dashboards or any other website.
We are using Theme X to build it: https://screensaver.ninja
February 20, 2015 at 2:59 am #210820Hey Everyone, here are some webs I’m working on with X Theme
http://www.DAMEHT.com (NYC Rock band)!
http://www.galleryhotelny.com (Boutique Hotel)
http://www.modulusmusicstudios.com (Music Rehearsal Studios)
http://www.diamondocity.com (Jewlery for your walls..)
Would love any feedback since I’m always updating them!
Best,
February 20, 2015 at 9:37 am #211085Great stuff guys!
Jen – Agree with all the comments. Really like the site from top to bottom. The color palette work well, the type size is great! All very consistent and cohesive. Specifically, the purple band followed by the black/white image then the blue band. The way you tied in the colors with the text (white and blue text on the purple band, white and blue on the black/white band, white on the blue band – all works great together). I would encourage others to check out some of those finer touches as they go a long way in giving the entire site a very polished look and feel. It’s ok to mix colors like that if they complement each other and play into a cohesive palette that is re-used in other places on the site like Jen has done here. Great job!
Justin – Really appreciate your insights and approach to the site. I think Branko brings up some great thoughts (personally, I’m not a huge fan of sliders but the way it’s done here I think is fairly effective – especially if that is what the client wants). That is actually the thing I’d like to thank you for bringing up. What you are describing is something we all face. Clients who have a very specific idea in their head about how something should look and then you being the one who tries to help them bring it to life but also share your perspective on whether the “idea” will actually look good (and more importantly, help grow their business). It is a constant give and take to be sure, however I think your approach is wonderful. You share your feedback and give them specific ideas, however ultimately understand the final decision will be up to them and you work to focus on creating an environment both in the front and back end that is conducive for them. We are thrilled to know both you and they are enjoying using X, and we look forward to working with you on many future sites as well. Wonderful job on all the custom development – it looks great! Love the footer as well!!
Pupeno – It sounds like an interesting idea. I would be a bit worried about the privacy of that kind of data being public even though I see you have a little section about that. With regards to the design, I would consider centering that headline at the top and adding some breathing room (margin) around the chunks of text as it feels a bit cramped currently. Thanks for sharing!
Lucas – I think you might be the first person I have seen who has used virtually all the Stacks (didn’t see Ethos in there – maybe that one can be next). It is really cool to see such versatility from one person, and I can tell you have taken time to get to know the nuance of the features of each Stack and put them to use for each design. That band’s site is very creative and one of the more visually unique Integrity examples I’ve seen to date. Hat tip for the use of Video Lock on there as well 🙂
February 20, 2015 at 9:48 am #211097Nicely done everyone, its amazing how different one theme can be laid out. Can’t wait to see what else comes down the pipe.
February 20, 2015 at 3:44 pm #211349Thanks Kyle!
Funny enough I forgot to share this site I made as well (made with Ethos!)
http://www.andydavisgallery.com (Master Sculptor from Mc Donough, GA)
Working on some new updates on the http://www.dameht.com, and on the other sites as well. Starting to work around integrating bbpress and other plugins.
thanks for taking a look! And thanks for the great work !!
EDIT: Oh, btw- did you check out the interactive ‘deconstructed music video’ we are building on SilderRevolution?

February 20, 2015 at 4:29 pm #211388Hey everyone,
This site is a constant work in progress in terms of refining things so I thought I would throw this out and see if anyone has any suggestions.
It’s a media heavy site and meant to appeal to younger demographics and we’re getting ready to launch member’s only forums and possibly BuddyPress. I’d love to hear some feedback on the forum integration before we go crazy on building it all out.February 20, 2015 at 7:30 pm #211456You’re most welcome, Lucas! That’s great about Ethos – you are officially an eXpert 🙂
We did notice that page, and one of our lead developers was intrigued by it as he mentioned he’s never seen Revolution Slider used quite like that.
Welcome, Mark! The design is a little outside of my own comfort zone 🙂 but I suppose it matters more what your target market thinks. Having said that, it’s the top part that feels a bit incomplete to me. As you scroll down the site feels more well executed from both a spacial and graphical standpoint (has an old school sort of feel to it which may be what you are going for).
February 20, 2015 at 9:55 pm #211505We just set this to go live yesterday, and we are still making some changes and updates. We are pretty excited about what X Theme has allowed us to do, especially coming in with not very much knowledge of how WordPress works. Thank you for making such a great theme and support.
February 21, 2015 at 10:30 am #211817Hi Dennis – That is an impressive site, my friend! Really love how all of the touches both to the content and the design work together. It is unique to see how you have laid out some of the interior pages to a more boxed/centered layout while still having the full width bands on the home page and in other places. It really works well. We are thrilled to know you’ve been able to do so much after being relatively new to WordPress and look forward to seeing other beautiful sites you build in the future!
February 21, 2015 at 10:50 am #211822Thank you, Kyle. It’s been a labor of love. I’ve learned a lot and I think I would do some things differently, but there is so much content I’m a bit stuck with where I am right now.
February 21, 2015 at 12:39 pm #211852Hey Themeco team,
I’m using Icon stack in an original way for my website full of WordPress tutorials, and believe it has his place in the showcase. If you wish.Regards,
Thibaud
February 21, 2015 at 4:27 pm #211920You’re most welcome, Dennis!
Hi Thibaud – Nice work! I wouldn’t have known that was Icon had it not been for the independent sidebar…highly customized 🙂
