Grrrreat stuff here! Really like Philip E’s site, definitely serves the artistic purpose well.
Grrrreat link from Jan 2014 on graphic resources by Support! Great building blocks make a huge difference in making a great website.
Me I got kicked out of an online marketing agency in November under very shady terms, started my own LLC for that in December, been doing online marketing heavy in social media and analytics since, and this is my first marketing website –
ThriveMD Vail & Aspen, Colorado’s Premier Regenerative Medicine Clinic.
I use oDesk to outsource most of the custom coding to Kronoscode, a rock solid development firm from Nicaragua, and I personally take care of all the marketing tasks – vision, goals, site map and keywords for SEO and visitor flow, page copy, graphics, analytics, social integrations, blog structure and strategy, etc. Real fun stuff, and it definitely makes me more and more of a webmaster that actually knows about hosting and other cool stuff of the like haha.X Knowledge Base has been suuuuper useful, besides teaching me about how websites should look and feel it gave me the confidence to use Cloudflare, EWWWW, W3 Total Cache etc. I first used it for a site for my mom’s non-profit language schools (rusinskyjazyk.sk), learned all I could about the theme then, and now working for clients is smooth.
End of my excited text here, the baby is live after a lot of late night work, any feedback will be highly appreciated 🙂
February 16, 2015 at 11:31 pm #208159Howdy Branko!
First off welcome, and many thanks for the 6 licenses to date! You’re moving up in the ranks 🙂
The site looks incredible. There was definitely a good bit of cusotmization done, and the whole thing flows very nicely. I was noticing a very long load time on individual pages so might want to investigate if there is a hangup with either your CDN setup or something else.
It’s great that you list those different aspects to building a site as it is so much more then just pretty pictures. It can be a challenge at times to wear the many different hats of copywriter, designer, etc but there are certainly many resources out there (some of which it sounds like you are already utilizing) to streamline the process. That is a great takeaway for everyone as well…find ways to outsource areas that you might be weaker at and/or not have the time or experience for and focus instead on the important aspects that actually move the business: leads, the product, etc.
You’ve got a lot of great content on the site, and it is very clear a lot of time was spent on the details from the graphics to copy to layout and more. It’s also great that you have that call to action at the bottom of every page encouraging people to preform the desired action. So often this is easily overlooked in the quest to make sure all the content is added, so kuddos on that front! One small things I might look into is switching out your maps to utilizing some of the advanced configuration options when using the Map Shortcode. That link explains some things you can do to remove things like the scroll effect that happens when users are scrolling through the page and hit the map (under Advanced Configuration).
Cheers!
February 16, 2015 at 11:46 pm #208172Thanks heaps Kyle, great input, very constructive, very thorough 🙂
Yep the load time is long. I know the server the site is on is slow – do you think server response can influence page load times despite the use of CDN?
The Map Shortcode is great and I first had it there, as I saw value in the customization. But I was specifically asked for including “Get Directions” on the Contact pages and that shortcode does not cover that. Hope one of the theme developers is listening here 😉
Are you Kyle on X team?
February 17, 2015 at 12:50 am #208200My pleasure!
Server response time can definitely still have an effect even with the use of a CDN, however if your confident in the specs of the server where the site is hosted (and satisfied with their answers with regards to performance), I would definitely investigate the CDN side of things.
And yes, I’m Kyle on the team (hope that’s a good thing) 🙂 and proud to lead the incredible team here at Themeco!
February 17, 2015 at 5:10 pm #208855Just got this guy live, a bit of a rush job because we needed to get this out before a big conference. Much more content to come but figured I would share where we are at now.

Really focused on page speed, let me know what ya think!
Thanks!
February 17, 2015 at 7:07 pm #208898Travis, on first impression I would not even say it’s a rush job, looks sweet.
I would add a favicon right away (unless for some reason it’s just not displaying on my browser) and remove the Get Started button until you have something that it’s actually linking to.
February 18, 2015 at 12:20 am #208983Agreed, Travis…if it was put together fast, you’re off to a great start (and the site loaded extremely fast for me). Would love to see it when all is said and done.
February 18, 2015 at 9:49 am #209308Thanks for the feed back! It was about a week of messing around with the theme and a week of actual site work… Seemed like a rush job maybe cause of the time stress? 🙂 Thanks for heads up on the broken link, that is fixed now.
You should be seeing a favicon, what browser are you in? I set up some of the local browser cacheing (server headers), I am new to this wonder if I broke something there?
One thing I was trying to add to the opening slideshow was the scroll to bottom arrow, any one know how to add that?
February 18, 2015 at 10:36 am #209356Hi Travis,
You can find more about activating the scroll option here: https://theme.co/x/member/kb/meta-options-pages/
February 18, 2015 at 12:50 pm #209449Thanks Kyle!
February 18, 2015 at 4:16 pm #209616You got it!
February 19, 2015 at 9:10 am #210141http://www.stabreda.nl created with X! 😉
February 19, 2015 at 4:24 pm #210498That’s nice looking one Jen! It’s simple. I like how violet and blue used together 🙂
February 19, 2015 at 7:14 pm #210599Hi everyone,
this site has taken me a long time to get live. Mainly due to a lot of work going into the Product search and product presentation.
I have loved using X, my client loves how easy it is to work with as well. I put a lot of time into setting up the product template to make it as easy as possible for them to update. I firmly believe that a the user experience of a back end is as important as the user experience of the website itself. X gives me and my clients that.
Here is the link
There is still along way to go. In the end there will be around 700 products in the portfolio, at the minute there is just one product category.
Hope you like it.
Justin
February 19, 2015 at 11:34 pm #210719Jeneke I like the site a lot, too. The color palette is really pretty and you hit the sweet spot of making the website simple without too much white space (like some flat design sites do in my opinion). Good luck with everything!
