You’re right, it wasn’t the Post Carousel it was Ethos in general. I don’t know why but it just started dragging. I turned off all plugins except those suggested after the install, but it still loaded slow. I then tried the child theme Integrity and the loading problem stopped. Doesn’t matter, because I think Integrity is a much better choice for what I want.
X is a fantastic theme…keep up the good work

Sleek, indeed…looking great! I would definitely compress the images as I downloaded one from your about page and it was over 5MB! It could easily be a couple hundred KB and still look just as good. This will also significantly increase the performance and loading of the resources on your site.

Thanks for sharing your website creations. I wish I had seen some of them before I started building my site! Rather than taking one of the demo content sites, I used X and built my site from scratch. It is for a fund raising project to help rebuild a school in the Philippines after it was all but destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan last year. I would love your comments and suggestions on how to make it better. Also, if you know any primary school teachers please show them the site… They might want to join in and help while having a lot of fun.

Hi Peter – Looks to be a great cause…we’re happy to help be a part of it. The only major thing I was noticing were the images could be compressed as they are quite large. I might also consider a shadow for the font over the image at the top of the homepage as it’s a little hard to read. Aside from that, just a few formatting things like with the call to action at the bottom (spacing, etc).
Hi Mitchell – Looking sharp…love the logo! Some of the background elements were a little strong for me as they sort of distracted me away from the beautiful suits, but aside from that and the call to action button colors feeling a little out of place, the site looks great!

Thanks for the feedback. I will certainly look at the formatting issues you mentioned. We are already working on image sizes and should have that sorted by the weekend. We are also looking at hooking into Amazon S3 storage as the download products are a few hundred Mb each!
This is actually the first website I have developed myself. I have learnt so much and really enjoyed using it. X is so powerful and so flexible that it is had to imagine anything you can’t do with it.
Any help you can give us to promote our project in the UK would be much appreciated and if you would like to put your hands in your pockets we’d love to have you as a sponsor 😉
