Your theme is exceptional. I can see why it’s selling so fast. Thanks for creating it.

I had a couple of different websites for my Web Design | Marketing | Photography business. This theme made it easy to blend my services into one space.

Any feedback or ideas are welcome.

    Hiya Caren,

It is our pleasure, and thank-you very much for the kind words! We’re thrilled to know you’re enjoying your time with X 🙂

Love the focus of your site – clear, simple, concise.

I would definitely look into some further image compression as those big, beautiful images are a little hefty in file size which can increase page loads. If you haven’t done so already, I would also look into setting up a proper caching plugin. If helpful, you can check out this article on performance tweaks.

    Cheers!

    Hi Kyle,

Thanks so much for your feedback. I have W3 Total Cache installed, but your article will help me make the best use of it.

The one thing I haven’t been able to figure out is how to change the link color of the headline that is on the bottom of the home page.

Still under constructions however this theme has been fun and easy to work with. Thoughts?

@Caren – You bet! If you don’t mind opening up another thread, one of our developers would be happy to assist with that link color question.

@Reginald – Looking good…nice to see some boxed examples as fullwidth seems to be the configuration of choice 🙂 I realize you may still be working on this, but the margin around your elements below the slider is missing so they are pushed up against the side.

Nice job, Ben! Nice to see a blog centric example with X as well…we actually have another husband/wife combo who I’ve seen using X to run their food blog over at http://www.acouplecooks.com.

    Thanks for sharing Ben!

Some great designs here. Definitely a showcase for the versatility (and support) of X.

Here’s mine now I’ve finally got it up and running: http://www.e-volv.co.uk

I’m a freelance instructional designer, i.e I design and build online training courses (managing training needs analysis through to end product), so need an active portfolio and blog.

Hoping to make a couple of tweaks including more uniformity with font sizing, but that’ll happen soon enough.

Have done a lot of testing in IE9 as loads of public sector prospects use that as well as IE8 🙁 Only thing I could do with the latter was add a popup warning. Am planning to hang an IE8-compliant page off the back of the site so that popup pushes IE8 users there. Guess it’ll be a basic text and image type page only.

    Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks Kyle, that’s a nice site. It’s a great theme. It’s definitely worth using X for even a more traditional blog because of the layout features.

I would welcome any comments or critiques.

    Thanks!

@ Tyler – Looking great! Repeating the background texture in the header is a nice touch, and everything from the images to the type size to the overall flow works great.

@ Simon – This is a fun thread indeed…seeing so many ideas really helps get the creative juices flowing! You’ve done a really nice job with the overall layout of the site…kudos for that as that can be a challenge. One thing I think that might help would be some sort of headings or blurbs on certain sections. There are sort of two schools of thought on that. One is that when you have a one pager, the navigation in the menu area is the “heading” for the section. The other is that an accompanying quick phrase or short sentence can help explain what people are seeing in case they aren’t watching the active elements on the menu change as they scroll through the page. You can also do this selectively on important sections and skip ones that might be more self evident. So for example, on a showcase section instead of just showing the showcase putting something like “This is the awesome work I’ve done before…Contact me so I can begin your project today!” With the proper formatting, effective section headings or quick thoughts can really drive home the purpose of the section (and more importantly what you want the visitor to take away from seeing the section). I know you had mentioned you were still doing a couple of tweaks, so this might be on the list, but I did notice there is no footer menu selected (you can turn this off if you don’t need it), and there is no menu selected for the blog.

@ Ben – Sure, one thing I would do right off the bat is remove the second showing of the featured image in your posts so that visitors can get to the content as quick as possible. You all have done a really nice job of putting some important things front and center (for instance, the Facebook widget that scrolls with people as I’m seeing that Facebook is a big part of the business). That is really smart and a great practical example of placing what you actually want visitors to do in a place where they can’t miss it and they are reminded of it often! You all also seem to have a very engaged community that loves your content which is a huge plus in this world as fostering and growing a healthy community online definitely takes equal parts compelling, unique content and an engaged owner/manager.

@ Art – There is not a way to do that currently, I’m afraid.

@ Rogier – VERY cool idea. I love the type, layout, and overall feel! Great example of a modern and boxed use of the Renew Stack.
