Hey David B. (or Alexander)…
Your page is loading very slowly because you have an original image (the mountain scene at the top) that is HUGE (4,918px × 3,124px) and WordPress is trying to compress it and load it into an area only 627px x 400px. First thing to do is resize your image to be as close as possible to those dimensions (627 x 400) and it will load almost instantly for you. Keep going man!May 5, 2014 at 7:41 pm #40923Hey Adam G – where did you find the shortcode for your “4 Steps” on your page with the animated circles? I really like that effect, thanks!
May 5, 2014 at 7:49 pm #40927Ok guys, I was tasked with the impossible. Build a brand new site for a mom and pop web hosting company located in Michigan. Sounds easy enough… except for 2 things.
1. Company has an Irish, St. Patrick’s Day, Leprechaun theme that has to somehow stay in place.
2. Website has not been updated in any way for 15 years…
So here is what I was presented with..(make sure you are seated in case of a hysterical laughter attack…)
I had to somehow build a new site that removes the old, tacky, unprofessional look and feel, and replace it with something modern and professional that retains the “Digital Web Leprechauns” brand. How did I do? I believe that I have given this company more than just a new website. They have literally been given a credibility and company image upgrade that you can’t put a price on. Anything you can dream up, you can do with X. Anything… Without further ado, here is the end result, before the first set of client revisions of course…
What do you guys think of it?
May 5, 2014 at 8:59 pm #40942Howdy Mark,
I’m so happy to know X can be adapted to the leprechaun web hosting market…Who knows, that may be a burgeoning niche for us 🙂
The black background with yellow/green text is a little heard on my eyes on this page: http://dwli.net/newsite/web-hosting/. One option to consider would be possibly building out the page layouts to be something like this: http://dwli.net/newsite/domain-management/ (standard white background) and maybe to give it a more playful, leprechauny feel by making the fonts bigger. Also, it would then match what appears to be the same style of the other pages in that Services dropdown. It looks like they will all be the standard white background. Just a thought, and I’m sure the client will have an idea or two 🙂
We really appreciate your kind words about X! Stay tuned for even more great features in the very near future!
May 6, 2014 at 11:07 am #41139Thanks all for the kind words for http://www.mig.cc ! @Rosston M small world! That would be Wes, I do those rides in Fort Lauderdale. As for the plug-ins, I used one called ShowOff from ThemeForest and a free one called Testimonial. The header was difficult to build (took a long time).
Thanks again!

May 7, 2014 at 12:46 pm #41630Hey Everyone here in X-Themeland
I’ve just got my site put together, yet I’d love to have any feedback. I’m not a designer, yet I’ve found this to be a fun thing to do. It’s for an Auto Shop that my Dad and I are opening.
I’d love to add a nice video full screen to the top, but that will come in time.
Make it a great day,
James~
May 7, 2014 at 5:02 pm #41869Howdy James,
Looking good! The white/yellow/black is a good combo. Sounds like you are still tweaking a bit, so I might look at that last content band. The yellow text is hard on the eyes with that background. Maybe try removing the background image and focusing on a clear/compelling call to action?
May 7, 2014 at 9:41 pm #41971May 7, 2014 at 9:59 pm #41985Looking good, Mohammed however that’s not X 🙂
Also, on your About and Services page the screen is glitchy as you scroll down.
May 7, 2014 at 10:23 pm #41994Hi Tyler .. great work on that site. That Testimonial plugin you used (I am assuming it’s the one you used for the Meet Some Members of the MIG Team section) Do you have a direct link to it by any chance.
Again good work.
May 8, 2014 at 3:03 am #42052Hey Mark!
Thanks a lot for that advice, I had a feeling something was affecting my load times and hadn’t put my thumb on it. Much appreciated!
Cheers,
Dave/AlexanderMay 8, 2014 at 3:46 pm #42287Thanks Anthony! That plug-in is actually called “Paper Grid – Team, Services and Content Grid”
