    Good evening all,

    On my Home page at http://dev.emilycolin.com, I’m getting a “Warning: Unresponsive Script” error when trying to resize the browser to test the responsiveness of the page in a live setting. I think it may have something to do with the media (video, and audio) on the page. Also, resizing this page is VERY slow going, and if done too fast, will throw this error and lock up the browser. I’ve test this in Firefox, Chrome, and Edge.

    Any help in finding out what going on here would be much appreciated. This is a very simple page without a lot on it. It should not be having these issues. My other pages do not have this issue and resize smoothly. I will add a screen shot and login credentials in a follow up private post.

    Thanks for all that you guys do!

    Hi there,

    Please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

    Hope it helps.

    Yes, I had already done that, which is why I suspected the media on this page. The two problematic things I found were the Slider Revolution plugin with a YouTube video source, and the audio player under the main image on this page. When I removed both of those elements, the page reacted perfectly on resize. When I added just the audio player, the browser started to get very jerky on resize, but didn’t crash the page. When both the audio player and the and the Slider Revolution plugin were active, the page would then crash.

    Not sure how to address this since the Slider Revolution plugin comes bundled with X, which means no 3rd party support. The audio player is part of X/Cornerstone, I think.

    Options?

    Hello There,

    I am another staff checking on this topic. Regretfully I could not replicate the issue. I don’t see any warning message when I resize my browser. What browser are you using?

    And since you are using SiteGround, could you please disable the supercacher in your hosting panel? The SuperCacher is developed by SiteGround exclusively for their customers. It increases the number of hits a site can handle and boosts the website loading speed. The SuperCacher includes 4 different caching options for maximum optimization of your websites. You can access the tool by clicking on the SuperCacher icon in your cPanel.

    For more information about this, please check it out here: https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/supercacher/supercacher_intro.htm

    Hope this helps.

    The SuperCacher has been disabled.

    As far as the browsers I’m using, Firefox is the one throwing the error, but Chrome, IE and Edge are all super slow to respond to a resize. There are no errors when using those, it’s just very bad performance when resizing the window. This has me worried about the overall performance on this page and may affect the SEO standings once this site is live.

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

    Enter the following lines in your wp-config.php file at the root of your installation:

    define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
    define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

    If this doesn’t work then your hosting provider has a limit on these parameters, which would keep them from taking effect. The next step would be to open up a support ticket with your hosting provider and ask them to increase your PHP memory limit to a higher setting, preferably 512M.

    Let us know how this goes!

    I contacted the host provider and they raised the thresh hold to 512M. I added this code and it is responding better. Still kinda wonky but much better.

    Wish I could place a ticket over at Theme Punch to have them look into it. A YouTube video should not stop any type of resizing issue if it was designed with responsiveness in mind, as they claim.

    Hi there,

    Yes, it should work as is, though, I’m not having the similar issue on my end. There could be many contributing factors.

    Unfortunately, they can only provide support for users who bought their license. And we can only forward any issues or bugs.

    Thanks!
