vavilesParticipantHello!
I have just updated the theme and all plugins that needed updating. However, the Visual Composer plugin won’t update. I receive this error message:
“Update Failed: Plugin update failed.”
I know that it’s recommended to use Cornerstone over the Visual Composer, but I’ve also been told that having active plugins that are not updated could disrupt the performance of the website.
Should I deactivate VC?
Please keep in mind that I’m not a programmer and know very LIGHT HTML. So dumb it down for me 🙂
Thanks in advance!

RahulModeratorHey There,
Can you try revalidating your licence and see if that solves the problem? All you have to do is to revoke the licence and add it again.
If that doesn’t work, you can try updating it manually by uploading the extracted zip file via FTP : https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/
You can deactivate Visual Composer if the plugin is not being used to build any layout. If you are building layouts on cornerstone then it is totally safe to deactivate it.
Hope that helps.

vavilesParticipantWeird. I “deactivated” and then activated it and now it seems to be updated!
I have this version: Version 4.11.2.1Is that the most recent?
In case it is, and what I did by mistake alleviated the problem – could be something others (who aren’t super tech) can try??

FriechModeratorYes that is the latest version of Visual Composer that is bundled with the X|Theme.
Is there a chance that you switch theme? If so, extensions/plugin automatic updater will notice you for an update.
But rather than updating directly via the Plugin developers automatic updater, that update is included in a X update.
Glad things sorted out.
Cheers!
