Beth KParticipantHi. I have been using X theme for a while. I also have an x integrity light theme running. I actually have X theme on 2 sites (2 different purchases), and the sites are unrelated. On both sites, the visual composer flat out stopped working. When I go to the back end of each site (both are wordpress), the visual composer box gets an endless “Loading, please wait” message but never comes alive. This basically happened out of the blue, although I am not sure if coincides with a wordpress update.
I have X theme version 1.8
Integrity Light theme 1.0
Wordpress version 4.5.2Please help. I have no way to update my site 🙁

FriechModeratorHi There,
Yes, this has something to do with WordPress update. Your WordPress (4.5.2) is up to date, but your X|Theme (1.8.0) is not, so does your other plugins including Visual Composer (3.7.4). You can refer for the latest versions here.
This is a major update for your site so we advice that you copy your whole site and do the updating on a staging environment first.
Lots of things happened on X|Theme since the version 1.8.0. Most of those are improvements, bug fixes, new features and to keep up to the latest WordPress so it would be fully compatible. Most notable on the previous update is the introduction of the Cornerstone page builder which replace the X|Shortcodes plugin.
Please do update your whole site. You can download the latest version of X|Theme from your ThemeForest account download page.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers!

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Please update your X to the latest version. At the moment, you are using a very old version 1.8.0 (http://prntscr.com/c7jdxp, http://prntscr.com/c7jef0).
Our latest versions are:
X Theme: 4.6
Cornerstone: 1.3.0
Visual Composer: 4.12You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site. If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.
Please deactivate and delete X Shortcodesplugin. Please take note that X shortcodes and its functionality has been consolidated into Cornerstone which will be automatically gets installed when you activate the latest X theme.
I would recommend that you create a staging site since you are several versions behind. This is very useful because you can test drive any X updates in the staging area, do the customizations and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed the update in the live site. To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

Beth KParticipantwow. this has been painful.
I have the updated x theme etc live on the site now. I have a few issues:
• the site used to be centered on the page and is now bumping left. How do I change that back?
• the columns are not showing properly. For instance, on home page, INNOVATE, COLLABORATE, PRODUCE are 3 columns in one content band. These are not appearing as 3 columns. Rather they stack underneath one another. This is happening throughout the site.
• There are a few other style issues, but hoping the answer to these will lead me to the answer to those.Thanks.

RadModeratorHi Beth,
Do you still have the backup copy of your site when it’s not updated yet? Looks like it’s broken since you updated from the very old versions. Version gap is too big and data and structure is greatly changed on newer versions.
I need the original one for comparison and troubleshooting.
Would you mind setting the old and unmodified one on a demo site?
Thanks!

Beth KParticipantHi. I had the child theme as the active theme. When I changed so X – the main one – is the them, everything went to the way it should look. So, now I wonder if I need the child theme at all. (?)

JoaoModeratorHi Beth,
You need a Child Theme if you made changes to theme core files, like .php via ftp. If you didn´t, you don´t need it.
I personally almost never use it 🙂
Let us know if you need further help,
Joao
