Judy GParticipantHi
I just updated my WordPress to version 4.6.1 and my visual composer has stopped working. I checked that I have the latest update from X and I think I do. I’ve also deactivated/reactivated plugins and that hasn’t made a difference. I’ve been reading through all of the various articles to try and find the solution but can’t seem to fix it. Can you help please?
Thanks

ChristianModeratorYou have 2 X themes installed. The active one is old (v 2.1.0) and the new one is the latest. Please switch to the new one and check if the issue persists.
Thanks.

Judy GParticipantHi
I did that already and the issue does persist. When I switch to the new one the visual composer issue is still there and I lose the design of my website. All of this was stated in my message above?
Thanks.

RadModeratorHi Judy,
Yes, we understand that 🙂
The main reason why there are many issues on your site is because your themes and plugins are old and were made to work on WordPress version released at that time. Now that you updated your WordPress, the themes and plugins are now incompatible and they may not work with WordPress 4.6.1.
The solution is deleting the old one and switch to new one.
And the reason why your site design is in chaos after switching to latest X theme is because of version gap. The 2.1.0 is very different from 4.6.4 especially on how settings are saved, the large gap in structures, there are many new features and deprecated features. And your content made for old VC is not anymore compatible with latest VC and X, reworking with the content is the only solution I can think of.
You have two option,
1. Maintain the 2.1.0 and other plugins in its previous versions, but make sure you also downgrade to the previous version. I can’t tell which version since you upgraded it already.
2. Clone your site into staging and there, update your plugins and theme and rework with the design. This will make your site live until your new version is ready.
Thanks!
