Hi, I’m having trouble with Visual Composer. I’ve only ever used what i think is called classic mode, but now every page is showing like the attached image. If i click on Classic Mode i get screeds of code and very little difference between the visual and text options.
How do i restore it to the old system of drag and drop elements? I’ve tried the “frontend” editor but this just spins eternally on a white screen. I built the whole site with the drag and drop builder, I really don’t want to have to work with code…

Thanks for writing in! There is actually two modes if you edit with Visual Composer – Backend editor and Front-end Editor – http://prntscr.com/debus5
The default editor is shown by default and when you switch to “Backend editor” then the button will show “Classic mode” that’s originally referring the default editor. So I guess you edited in backend editor earlier and Visual Composer is functioning as usual on your site, there is no issue.

I would understand this if one or two pages had changed – perhaps I’d accidentally clicked on “backend” – but every single page on my site seems to have changed. I have never purposely edited a page in the backend code format so this doesn’t appear to be a reasonable explanation. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Whenever you are using Visual Composer for a page then default editor would be “Backend Editor”. If you are using VC, you don’t want default editor as default, isn’t that usual? However that’s how Visual Composer works which is usual and expected feature and nothing to fix.

I think we are talking at cross purposes. I’m referring to the drag and drop builder on the attached screen shot. It’s the only editor I’ve used on this site but I can suddenly no longer access it on any page. I have done nothing that I’m aware of that could change this globally on my site.

I checked and there are two possible reasons,
1. Visual composer has a format that follows in order to render the builder. And it’s based on shortcode structure within the editor. If you accidentally edit the editor’s content then it may cause corrupted content. This is something we’re preventing which is why in the cornerstone, structures are saved within post meta instead in editor’s content.
2. Plugin conflict, I can see multiple issues and error through developer’s console. I can’t do troubleshooting since it’s live. Would you mind backing up your site first before I do troubleshooting? Or please clone your site into staging and I could troubleshoot it there.
Then please provide the admin and FTP login credentials.
