    The visual composer is not loading within the edit window in WordPress. It is impossible to edit in frontend and I don’t want to switch to the backend editor since this is advised against.

    Thanks,
    AL

    Hi there,

    It seems you are using very older version of X and Visual Composer is outdated as well – http://prntscr.com/dirndz

    Can you confirm that you are fully updated? (Theme and Plugins)

    You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

    If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

    I find it problematic that I need to pay half the price of the site in entirety in order to purchase a new update to visual composer. Is that the case?

    You do not need to buy a Visual Composer license. You only need to update X first. See https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/

    Since you have not updated for a long time, you have missed that X Shortcodes was replaced by Cornerstone. See http://theme.co/changelog/#shortcodes-3-0-5. After updating X, validate it and go to Addons page and Cornerstone will be automatically installed for you. See https://community.theme.co/kb/product-validation/

    Next, uninstall X Shortcodes. Then, add the code below in your functions.php

    // Enqueue Parent Stylesheet
    // =============================================================================

    add_filter( 'x_enqueue_parent_stylesheet', '__return_true' );

    Once done, uninstall Visual Composer and install it again via Addons page.

    Please see our Knowledge Base for the rest of the new information available.

    And, please update your site regularly.

    Thanks.
