sininviernoParticipantHey there!
I have 2 sections on my front page that feature a videosong each. For desktop and tablet I have put a video background for them. The video is hosted in youtube. It was working just fine when i first created it but now they fail to load and I can only see a dull grey background.
http://www.sininvierno.com
The sections read “canciones. Transversal” and “canciones. Al Calor”What is the reason for this? Is this a problem on the hosting or can I do anything to fix it?
Thanks in advanceM

JadeModeratorHi there,
I have checked your page and the videos seem to be fine. Kindly try to clear your browser cache and check again.

sininviernoParticipantHello Jade
Thanks for your reply and the good news.
I’m glad it’s loading just fine on your end. I’ve cleared cache and it still not working on my end. Neither on Chrome nor on Safari :/ I’m in Nicaragua right now, I also asked a friend in Argentina to try and he couldn’t see them either.
Any idea what else could be wrong? and meanwhile, is there a way to set up a cover photo in case the video fails? Thanks a lot in advance

RadModeratorHi there,
A cover photo is only applicable on devices/browser that doesn’t support videos. The video is supported but it just doesn’t load on your end. Since I can’t test it on your end, would you mind trying the browser developer tools and send screenshots on what you’re getting from console and network section?

sininviernoParticipantHello Rad
So I’ve tried what you suggested and found a funny behaviour.
Whenever I load the website on my desktop in either Chrome, Firefox or Safari the video background won’t load. Whenever I adjust the width a little bit, they appear, but with a big play button greyed out (and inactive) and won’t play. Do they autoplay on your end? That was the behaviour when I built them and the one I wanted.
When I inspect the element the background videos appear in the same way they do when I adjust the width.
I want to understand and try to make them work like they were when I first uploaded them.
Let me know what you see on your end and what you think could be happening.August 22, 2016 at 11:27 am #1141680

FriechModeratorHi There,
You’re using a YouTube video. Video background option is for a hosted video, please use a direct link instead.
e.g.
http://www.fermmedia.nl/video/file.mp4Hope it helps, Cheers!

sininviernoParticipantFriech.
Thanks.
It was working when I first did it, that’s what has confused me.
So I should use a self hosted video. That’s the only option for it to autoplay?
Please let me know so I can make the necessary adjustments. Thanks again

FriechModeratorHi There,
Yes, It might work before but it is not typical. The video background feature is using a native video player so it should play a direct video. As opposed to a 3rd party video sharing site that is embedding their video on their own player.
Thanks.

sininviernoParticipantOk Friech, it is a bit inconvenient to not be able to have a video background from youtube.
Will the video autoplay once I move it to my own hosting? How do I make that work?August 26, 2016 at 9:59 pm #1149223
sininviernoParticipantI have uploaded 2 video files that I created especially to self host and set as background for these sections.
However, I tried setting them as background video and it didn’t work.
The sections are right there in my front page but I have hidden them now because I couldn’t make it work. You may login and check them for me or tell me how to continue.August 27, 2016 at 12:46 am #1149324
ChristopherModeratorHi there,
This is your video file URL http://sininvierno.com/uasi-al-calor-fondo/ which is not correct (see the attachment), please fix it.
Thanks.

sininviernoParticipantHey, I went into the front page to edit the video background url and it was already correct, just like the one you wrote in your message.
If this one is not the correct url, then how do I find it?
I tested the site and it’s still showing no video.
I hid the section again, until we make it work. ThanksM
