CenturyMarketingParticipantI develop sites on a different domain and once complete move it to the clients’ domain.
So I build the site on testsite.com/newsite/ make everything perfect then move it to the client’s website clientsite.com/
I’m using backupbuddy and their importbuddy script. Everything moves over fine. Their import script you change testsite.com/newsite/ to clientsite.com/ along with the new database and so forth.
I do this. The site loads fine. I can go through each of the pages and do a search on the code (view source) for testsite.com/newsite/ and nothing shows up. GREAT!
However, when I edit a page with cornerstone, and then save the page. I then view the source of that page and do a search for testsite.com/newsite/ and voila, any images or hard links have reverted back to testsite.com/newsite/…. rather than retaining their clientsite.com/ urls.
I read your migration article and it even listed at the bottom that BackupBuddy was a good option to use.
So what am I doing wrong?
It seems that when I run cornerstone, the data cornerstone is pulling didn’t get updated during the backupbuddy migration with the updated URL. Have you seen this before?
this happens every time I build a new site. It’s happened 20 some times in the last 18 months so it’s not an isolated instance. Normally I just go through each page and relink the background images and anything else that got changed (while I’m scanning through all the pages to make sure everything is good).
But I’d really rather not have to do that.
thoughts?
