Happy with the site as-is, just need to change one column on the home page – but visual composer won’t load. Shows VC version 4.3.5, with no upgrade available. I guess it’s not compatible with the current wordpress version?

Followed the best-practices: duplicate the site to a new directory, duplicated and attached the database, changed the two site address fields in the DB. Deleted JetPack. Reset permalinks.

There’s a content band that fades in on the home page, it’s now blank in the browser. Some CSS has gone bad, crazy letter spacing. Pages seem to link OK.

Validate theme with purchase code. Cornerstone now appears in plugins and is active
Now VC version 4.3.5 shows “new version available” but it says the new version is 4.12??

Home page now looks normal.
Edit front page with VC – doesn’t load
Try Edit with cornerstone – home page appears as blank page ready for content in Cornerstone.

deactivate cornerstone – home page is now mostly blank in browser.

activate cornerstone – page content is back in browser.
Noticed x-shortcodes plugin is deactivated.

“Update” VC to 4.12 (from 4.3.5) – page loads properly in browser
Edit page with VC – I can edit some of the page – but one content band (with forms and latest posts) is blank in VC. (This band fades in on scroll in the browser)

So – it looks like I need to find a way to turn off the fade-in effect to edit this section?

Anything I’ve missed? How do I turn off the fade effect in VC, and will this allow me to edit that section?

I’m assuming when I suss this out, I’ll backup the main site and DB and just follow the same steps vs. reconnect to the backup site.

EDIT – Doh. I realized I was reading the VC versions as “four-point-three” and “four-point-one-two” when in reality it’s “four-point-twelve”…

Main issue – after upgrading, there’s a content band on the home page that appears blank in Visual Composer. That band is set for the content to fade in, so I assume it’s no longer compatible. How can I change this to make it editable – I don’t mind losing the fade if I have to.

2nd – are the upgrade steps I’ve taken all I need to do to start rebuilding pages in Cornerstone?

You will face issues unless you update everything to latest. After updating X; let’s remove X Shrotcodes completely from your site.
