    Hey.

I just upgraded (as prompted) to the latest version of WordPress. I use X and Cornerstone, but most pages were done using X.

Now I can’t edit my pages. I only see “Visual Composer” option, which I never used and never seemed to work properly.

How can I get back to the previous “normal” editing abilities? My site: VisionEars.com

This is what my edit page used to look like (and I’d like back)…

If I click the Visual Composer icon, it takes me to a “buy this upgrade” page. Will that cure the problem? What happened to my X? BTW I have Cornerstone, but it is incredibly slow and I prefer to stay with X.

OK, I’ll wait for your reply.
    Thanks.

    Bent.

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in and for updating the thread. I am a bit confused with some of the info you provided, so if I misunderstood please do explain further.

You seem to have been working with Visual Composer previously? Is this correct? You mention that you never used the “visual composer” option. Do you mean the front end VC builder? I ask because the image you show saying you would like to get back is Visual Composer’s back end builder.

I would also like to clarify, you mentioned Cornerstone is slow and you would prefer to stay with X? Cornerstone and X are both our products and they are integrated together. X can’t run properly without Cornerstone as Cornerstone is a require plugin, which replaces X-Shortcodes.

If cornerstone is not running smoothly then something is conflicting and we should investigate that.

We should also look into the VC version you are using, since it is asking you to upgrade. Please make sure you are using our integrated version of VC and not the original version. You can uninstall VC and reinstall it via our X Addons page.

If you still run into issues after the above, please provide us with login credentials so we can take a closer look. To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

    – Link to your site
    – WordPress Admin username / password
    – FTP credentials

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff. Thanks!

    Hi there,

It seems you are using older version of X, Cornerstone and Visual Composer.

Can you confirm that you are fully updated? (Theme and Plugins)

You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

How do I make sure the Cornerstone and X is upgraded?
I did WP 4.5.2 which was the start of my trouble.

Then I unfortunately also upgraded my client’s website to WP 4.5.2 and now I can’t see the content of pages either.

I believe it is all upgraded, and not working properly.

I include a screenshot. The Woo Commerce wants attention, but I don’t need that for now. I appreciate your help. I’m really stuck with this one, and now my client’s site is having a version of the same problem. It’s still “loading”. Dang…

    Hi There,

On contrary you only have updated WordPress but your X|Theme, Cornerstone, and Visual Composer are few update behind. You can refer to this page: https://community.theme.co/kb/version-compatibility/ on what is the latest version of X, Cornerstone and the extensions that is bundled on X.

And here is the version of X|Theme, Cornerstone, and Visual Composer that you’re using on your site.

    screenshot

The latest update release of WordPress has a core files update on it, so themes and plugin developers (not only us Themeco) release an update as well to make their theme and plugin fully compatible on the latest WordPress.

Please update the X|Theme, Cornerstone, and Visual Composer and so the other 3rd party plugin (that needs update) on your site as well to avoid any incompatibility issues.

If you’re familiar with FTP, I’d advice that you do the manual update.

    Updating Your Theme and Plugins

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers!

    Hello again.

Both my sites now have an API key installed and proclaim to have automatic updates. Still I can’t see my page content in either site unless I go to “Classic mode”.

Both sites have the following versions:
    X=Version 4.4.2, Cornerstone=Version 1.2.4, WP=4.5.2

AdventuresInCaring.org display Visual Composer with “Add Element” “Add Row” etc, but no page content showing, just a rotating “Loading”.

VisionEars.com display Visual Composer with a Plus-icon and Elements, but nothing works, no page content showing.

    Hello There,

You are still using the older version of Visual Composer (4.1.3). Please update it to the latest version bundled in X which is version 4.11.2.1. Please do update to the latest version. After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Phew. Thank you. Panic passing…

Much obliged. Have a coffee on me.

    Both sites now working.
Will everything now upgrade by itself, or do I keep playing bull in a chinashop?

    Thanks

    Bent,.

    Hi Bent,

Glad things sorted out. Actually the term “automatic update” in WordPress world is not actually automatic, it needs a user consent/action. WordPress will notify you if a Themes and Plugins update is available under Dashboard > Updates, then its up to if you do update those. That is the “automatic update” while the manual update is via FTP.

You can not get an automatic update of X|Theme and Cornerstone if you did not validate your site, that is the license is for.

    Hope this shed some lights.

    Cheers!
